We are looking for a group to serve dinner at The Friendly Kitchen🍽️

We have an opening for a group to cover our 4th Saturday dinner each month. Remaining dates for 2026:

📅 Saturday, October 24
📅 Saturday, November 28
📅 Saturday, December 26

How it works:
🥘 3:00-5:00 PM: Prepare the meal (3-5 people)
🍲 5:00-5:45 PM: Serve dinner
🧽 5:45-6:15 PM: Clean up and wash dishes

Your group lead comes in on the Wednesday before to choose the food for Saturday’s meal, which gives the meat time to thaw in our refrigerator.

We’re currently serving about 80 neighbors each night, and your group can help make sure everyone gets a warm meal and a friendly welcome. 💛

As Hunger Awareness Month wraps up, we're sharing this from Feeding America because it explains something our neighbors are feeling right now. SNAP participation is down by millions nationally, and more changes are coming. Food banks and kitchens like ours do everything we can, but for every meal our network provides, SNAP provides nine. When one piece shrinks, the whole system feels it.

Thank you to everyone who gave, volunteered, and spoke up this month.

SNAP is changing fast, and new national reporting lays out the numbers. More than 4 million people, many of them children, have lost access to SNAP food assistance between last July and April. Nationally, participation is down 11%, from about 42 million people to 37 million.

More changes are on the way. Starting this October, states will take on a bigger share of SNAP's administrative costs. An even bigger shift lands in October 2027, when many states will also take on a share of SNAP's benefit costs. Experts warn these funding changes could push some states to scale back the program or step away from it altogether.

Here's why that matters to all of us: there's no replacement for SNAP. For every meal the Feeding America network provides, SNAP provides nine. Food banks and SNAP work together to help neighbors put food on the table, and when one piece shrinks, the whole system feels it.

Understanding what's changing is the first step toward protecting food access for everyone.

We are excited for a new partnership!

We're teaming up with American Legion Post 31 Penacook NH, to support their Meal Train for local veterans facing food insecurity. Our Family Friendly Meals Program is expanding to help feed these deserving veterans, right alongside the families we already serve.

They served for us... Let's serve them. 💙❤️
