Turtles are on the move! 🐢🐢
Be on the lookout for our turtles when traversing our roadways, particularly in May- June when turtles are actively moving
When safe to do so, help our turtles by moving them across the road in the direction to which they were headed.

John has been so helpful in assisting with our soil workshops and John’s garden at the County Complex’s newly named Silver Farm has donated thousands of pounds of vegetables to our gleaning program. We wish John well in his retirement.

40 YEARS of John Silver!

Today we’re celebrating an incredible milestone—four decades of dedication from John Silver!

John, your hard work and care as the County’s farm hand have helped Merrimack County truly flourish in more ways than we can count. Whether tending the land or nurturing the County garden, your passion and joy have always been front and center—and it shows in everything you do.

It’s been an absolute pleasure working alongside you. Your pride in the County, your warm spirit, and your unwavering commitment have left a lasting mark on all of us.

Here’s to you, John—thank you for everything you’ve given over these amazing 40 years. Wishing you all the best in what comes next!

⚠️AMPHIBIANS ON THE MOVE⚠️

While this spring’s weather has been more difficult than normal to predict, it is looking like tonight might be the opening act for large-scale amphibian migration in the state. Current weather forecast calls for warm (40-50s temps) throughout the night with steady rainfalls predicted throughout the region. Amphibians often need to cross roads as they make their way to vernal pools to begin their breeding cycle following a long winter slumber. Roadway fatalities have a huge negative impact on local populations.

We ask that you please drive slowly and be watchful on roads after dusk and especially on these rainy, warmer spring nights. If you do spot some critters on the move tonight or any other night, please send your observations to [email protected].
