Summer is a busy season for birds. Many are nesting and working hard to feed hungry young. Watch for nesting activity in your own backyard and consider heading north for some rewarding boreal birding. Northern New Hampshire offers the chance to spot specialties like Blackpoll Warbler, Mourning Warbler, Bicknell’s Thrush, and Spruce Grouse. Also, look for Common Eider chicks on the coast and American Oystercatcher on Star Island.

Discover what to watch every month on the Joy of Birding, the new online home of New Hampshire Bird Records. Learn about new places to bird, rare bird sightings, and level up on your birding skills. Visit: https://joyofbirding.nhaudubon.org/.

From June 21 through June 27, the NH Audubon Nature Challenge will be bringing people together all over New Hampshire to celebrate and document our local wildlife using eBird and iNaturalist. We welcome explorers of all ages and skill levels to visit any of our 20+ included sanctuary properties and help us inventory the birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, flowers, trees, mosses, mushrooms, and more there.

Want to prepare? Review the webinar on our website or YouTube if you want to learn more about eBird and iNaturalist. You can join us for a guided tour with naturalists during the challenge too! Space is limited so RSVP now on our Events Calendar.

The American Chestnut is so much more than another species of tree. Termed the “Redwood of the East,” this staple of northeastern forests provided consistent, stable food to Appalachian families, lumber highly resistant to decay due to its rich tannic acid, and supported dozens of wildlife species from black bears to wild turkeys. Join us this Saturday at the McLane Center in Concord to learn more about how this tree impacted the ecosystem and regional cultures, then join us for a trip on the trails to visit surviving American Chestnut sprouts. You will also have a chance to meet our new Lands Director, Ben Toth! Register now to reserve your seat, as there is limited availability: https://nhaudubon.org/event/restoration-of-the-american-chestnut/

Thank you!

We're still counting donations, but as of 5pm, we're incredibly grateful to the 132 community members who came together to raise more than $10,156 for New Hampshire Audubon during the last 24 hours of NH Gives.

Whether you chose to support ambassador animal care or our Annual Fund, your gift will help connect people with nature and protect New Hampshire's natural environment.

Thank you for being part of this inspiring day of giving.

School's almost out for the summer, so it's the perfect time to introduce an ambassador animal that was once a classroom pet!

Watch the video to meet one of our Ball Pythons and learn why she is such a meaningful ambassador for helping NH Audubon visitors connect with wildlife.
