SNAP's mission is to reduce the number of companion animals being euthanized due to animal shelter overcrowding by providing low and no cost spay and neuter programs to animal rescue organizations and the general public. Our Mission is to Spay and Neuter Pets

Likewise, one un-spayed female cat and her offspring can produce more than 60,000 kittens in their lifetime.

Sometimes a dog comes along who is in our program a little longer, with no clear reason why. Right now, that’s Marigold.

Believe me when I say this, Marigold is no wall flower, she is an absolute gem.

She spends the adoption events accepting love from everyone, and gently nosing your hand when you think you’ve stopped. She’ll easily steal another two minutes of affection before wooing her next person.

Marigold is a Malinois mix who has been with us since the end of August. She came to us from the Dublin Animal shelter, and she is about 2yo,. She is very dog friendly, often she is found spooning another dog in the home. She is extremely good with people, and though interested in cats, we think she’s cat workable.

Marigold is easy on leash, and loads up well into the car for an adventure. She’s a medium-low energy girl who will turn it on when you’re ready to adventure, then occupy the spot next to you on a couch for a snuggle session.

Marigold would fit into a variety of homes very well, but she does feel anxious when crated. Currently she’s been in a non-wire crate and doing o.k., while we know she is uncomfortable with a wire crate.

🐶 GOOGLE GOT THEIR PUPPY FIX… WHO’S NEXT?! 🐾💙

Imagine walking away from your desk, taking a puppy break, and trading spreadsheets for puppy snuggles. Sounds like a pretty great workday, right?!

Yesterday, our SNAP & Rescue team brought the puppy love to Google’s Sunnyvale campus for a puppy and adult dog snuggle session, and we're pretty sure there were a few extra smiles around the office yesterday!

And here's the thing… this is about more than just cute faces and wagging tails!

Guinness is basically a Labrador-shaped comedy of errors.

He is goofy, lovable, enthusiastic about absolutely everything and occasionally makes choices that leave the humans around him questioning his decision-making skills.

For example, Guinness loves walks.

Guinness also loves chewing through his leash.

These two hobbies are not particularly compatible.

He loves going places. He loves playing. He loves exploring. And above all else, Guinness loves a ball.

BALL. IS. LIFE.

He is a young Lab mix saved from Oakland Animal Services, and he is such a classic Lab puppy in all the best and most ridiculous ways. He has a huge personality and is constantly a source of joy and laughter. He is very dog friendly, and people friendly. He currently lives with an older Lab lives with a 9-year-old human, who he absolutely adores.

Guinness is potty trained and very well crate trained. Once Guinness goes into his crate, he knows it’s time to hit pause, settle down and relax.

Guinness needs someone who will love having a big, goofy Lab in their life. Perhaps someone who loves to adventure because he is up to that challenge!

Someone who will keep teaching him, laugh at his ridiculousness, and invest in sturdy leashes.

He’s a sweet, lovable GOOD BOI who is ready to find his people.

Good boy alert!

Possibly a small horse. We’re still reviewing the paperwork.

August is an XXL German Shepherd with legs for days. At 95 pounds, he came to us UNDERWEIGHT. So if you’ve always wanted a pony but your HOA has opinions, we may have your guy.

August came from Oakland Animal Shelter in awful condition. He was missing fur, showing the effects of poor nutrition and untreated fleas, and looked much older than he likely is. The shelter estimated nine. After looking at his teeth and watching him recover, we believe he is closer to five or six.

His foster, meanwhile, would like someone to explain that to the enormous dog doing zoomies around the backyard.

A few weeks of regular meals, flea treatment, and loving care have revealed who August really is: a sprightly goofball who loves walks and loves his people even more. In true Shepherd fashion, he will follow you around the house because whatever you’re doing clearly requires supervision. He is so ginormous that he rests his head on the back of the couch to request a snuggle. Very subtle. Very hard to ignore.

August is housebroken, dog friendly with non-pushy dogs, and friendly with people, including respectful children. His experience with cats is unknown.

He does occasionally help himself to something on the counter. In his defense, when your head is practically above counter height, it probably looks like someone set out a buffet. Clear counters are your friend.

Watching August feel good again has been such a joy. The worn-down Shepherd we first met is becoming a stunning, stately gentleman. Until the zoomies start. Then it’s My Little Pony in the backyard again.

Nugget has always known love. He just hadn’t seen much of the world.

His previous owner rescued his mama from a parking lot, not knowing she was pregnant. She raised Nugget and his sister in her apartment and loved all three deeply, but eventually had to give them up.

For Nugget, foster care has meant a lot of firsts. New people, children, other dogs, and even grass! The little guy who wasn’t sure about being outside now loves playing in the yard. He is getting braver every day, with a foster family patiently helping him along.

At seven months old, this Chiweenie/Terrier mix loves kids, other dogs, tiny tennis balls, and his Snoopy stuffy. But given the choice, he would still spend most of his day in someone’s lap. When a lap isn’t available, rolling himself into a blanket burrito will do.

Nugget is neutered, fully vaccinated, and reliably uses potty pads while learning to go outside. He is also working on crate comfort and spending time apart from his people.

He needs a patient family to keep showing him the world, with plenty of snuggling in between.

Joey has a whole little personality hiding behind that curious face. Just give him a minute.

This sweet, scruffy little terrier is still figuring out that people can be kind, toys are fun, couches are wonderful, and being somebody’s dog might actually be a pretty great gig.

When Joey first arrived in foster care, he didn’t know how to play with toys. Now he squeaks them, carries them outside, zooms around the backyard in circles, and has mastered about half of fetch. He’ll happily chase whatever you throw. Bringing it back? That’s optional!

New people can still make Joey apprehensive, but once he knows you, he’s an affectionate little cuddlebug who loves curling up beside you on the couch.

He gets along well with other dogs and cats, and he’s learning to walk on a leash and working on potty training. He’s even good with dog savvy kids.

Joey needs a patient family who will give him time to feel safe and keep showing him how much fun life can be.

Every day he gets a little braver, a little more playful, and a little more trusting.

He just needs someone willing to give him the chance. Are you his person?

Can you believe how time flies by? Our little 1-day old puppies, Mama Morticia’s Addams Family, are 6-weeks old.

And that means that we are accepting adoption applications.

Puglsey, Gomez, and Wednesday are extremely sweet. They love to be cuddled, and are not mouthy (yet). They all are sleeping through the night in an xpen.

Wednesday is our little star. She takes after her Mama and is petite in size. She is social, and holds her own with her brothers.

Gomez loves his person. Like his sister, he takes after Mama and is on the smaller size. He is inquisitive, and enjoys playing with his siblings.

Living up to his namesake, Pugsley is a chubby boy. He has a quite confidence about him and is content chilling out and watching the action. He has a calm confidence about him.

This litter will officially be ready to go home in 2 weeks. We do not adopt out siblings, and we require adopters to be located in California. Please submit an application to adopt on our website, www.spayneuteractionproject.org

Look at our beautiful boy, Judge! He’s got all the shelter stink off him thanks to Nina’s Bubbles in Brentwood! Nina graciously helps get our fosters in tip-top shape for the rescue debut!

Hungry Hippo alert!

Remember the tiny orphaned puppies Mama Morticia so generously took under her wing?

When they came to us, they needed either a nursing mama or round-the-clock bottle feeding. Morticia stepped up without hesitation, taking them in alongside her own babies and giving them exactly what they needed when they were at their most vulnerable. But not being in the best health herself, her milk supply quickly dipped, and we needed to supplement the little orphans with formula.

Now Itt, Ophelia and Thing have reached the point where they are solely bottle fed.

And these three are HUNGRY. 😂

Puppy formula is expensive, and three growing babies can go through an astonishing amount of it, about 14 ounces each feeding 😳

We are looking for puppy sponsors who want to help. And the job is easy!
