GROW is very excited to introduce the Smallworld app — a platform whose mission beautifully aligns with ours: strengthening community through meaningful connection.

Smallworld brings people together through local news, stories, and events that matter most — the kind of shared experiences that form the foundation of strong communities.

GROW was honored to be featured as one of their very first “Voices” stories. Many of you followed the journey of Ace — one of the first individuals we met on this path and the inspiration behind growing to a new level of support.

We invite you to enjoy Smallworld each day as it helps bring us closer to one another — and to Ace’s story.

First, thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has donated to our wonderful and cherished Doreen & Gunner aka Our Gunnysack over the past five days. After the unexpected passing of her husband and her planned surgery yesterday, it has been an incredibly heavy week.

Her surgery went well, and she is now able to begin mending her body — and slowly tending to her heart during this devastating time. Your generosity has helped ease some of the financial stress so she can focus on healing and navigating this next chapter of her life.

As a small thank you, I’m sharing a video showing what I’ve found over the past four years to be one of the cleanest, safest, and most effective ways to help someone stay warm when resources are limited. In a safe location and proper container, hand sanitizer can provide a steady source of warmth.

Supporting GROW has always meant supporting our community — and now you are supporting Doreen directly in her time of need. We are so grateful for every share, donation, prayer, and kind message.

Thank you for showing up with love

Kelly & Andrea & Doreen

This one’s for you, Doreen 😂 do you know how much I loathe the camera?

GROW Concord (http://www. growconcord.org/)) has been lifted up in ways we never could have imagined. Donors, volunteers, funders, community networks, farms sharing fresh produce, and housing partners have all shown up with open hearts—and we feel that generosity every single day. We are deeply grateful.
Because of this support, GROW has grown. And with that growth comes more meals cooked, more people reached, more jackets handed out on cold mornings, and more moments of connection with neighbors who are living outside and too often unseen.

Every day, our vehicle is how we connect. It carries hot dinners packed carefully into hot boxes so meals arrive warm and dignified. It carries fresh produce, hygiene supplies, clothing, tents, blankets, and other essentials. In the winter, it carries coats and jackets that help someone make it through the night.

It also carries people—back and forth to sobriety meetings, medical appointments, housing interviews, and other critical services that can change the course of a life. For many, that ride is the difference between missing an opportunity and taking a step forward.

Right now, all of that fits into a Hyundai Tucson. It has been a wonderful vehicle for a young organization and has survived four years of rugged daily use for which we’re grateful for how far it’s carried us. But as our reach has expanded, it simply can’t hold everything we need—or everyone we need to help—safely and consistently.
The vehicle we are hoping for also needs to be mechanically sound. GROW Concord directs its funding toward services, and our all-volunteer teams already generously contribute their time, energy, and even their own vehicles to help us meet the need. To continue growing responsibly, we are seeking a reliable vehicle that won’t require significant upkeep and can carry us through the next several years of growth.

So, we’re putting this out into the universe with hope and humility: if there is a larger, dependable vehicle in need of a new home, GROW Concord would be honored to receive it as a donation. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, vehicle donations may be tax-deductible in accordance with IRS guidelines.

Thank you for believing in this work, and for helping us continue to meet people where they are—sometimes literally—with food, warmth, dignity, and care. 💜

Another successful Christmas dinner in the books ❤️

This was the first time we brought out the Easy-Up as a special treat, and it made such a difference. We fed 55 people at the park, sent 25 meals out to the streets, and delivered 30 meals to the Holiday Marathon AA meetings. They meet once an hour, and every other hour they offer food—continuously for 24 hours during their high-holiday meeting marathon.

We handed out empty backpacks so people could fill them with goodies—including warm socks, blankets, jeans, lots of hand warmers, and ponchos. This year’s Christmas theme was “warm,” which couldn’t have been more perfect for this rainy, windy season.

Thank you so much to everyone who showed up with desserts. And the Coca-Cola was a huge treat—since I usually only hand out water, it was extra special for everyone. People were genuinely happy, grateful, and thankful to have a dry place to sit and eat.

So many shared how much it meant that we showed up on Christmas. We always tell them: you don’t get a day off from being homeless, so we won’t take a day off either.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible. It truly took a team, and I’m so grateful for each of you 💜💜

As we head into the end of the year, don’t forget to get your end-of-the-year donations in—we are a nonprofit, and your support makes work like this possible.

Exciting news from GROW as 2025 draws to a close!

We're proud to partner with AgLantis and their remarkable CoCo San Sustainable Farm! Kelly, Doreen, and Andie were motivated by meeting with Carolyn Phinney, AgLantis President and co-founder, touring the farm, and exploring innovative possibilities and opportunities. Kelly had the chance to return a few days later to harvest lettuce for our dinners. Much more to come regarding this new alliance 💜 https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSBq4LHkR-H/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
