🌱 Help Us Connect a Beginning Farmer with an Experienced Mentor! 🐷🐐

The Contra Costa County Farm Bureau is helping support the California Bountiful Foundation’s Expanding Our Roots Beginning Farmer and Rancher Mentorship Program by helping identify an experienced local mentor with knowledge in hogs and goats.

We are looking for a farmer or rancher who:

✅ Has 10+ years of agricultural experience
✅ Can provide a total of 6 hours of mentorship
✅ Is available to mentor virtually or in person
Mentors who complete the program will receive a $300 stipend in appreciation for their time and expertise.

This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge, support the next generation of agriculture, and help strengthen our local farming community. 🌾

Researchers are looking to connect with growers who use groundwater for irrigation and may be experiencing salt accumulation in their soil. Participation may include soil testing, shared test results, and the potential purchase of qualifying soil for research.

FARM AUTOMATION DEMONSTRATION FIELD DAY 💧🌱

Interested in learning how technology can help improve irrigation efficiency, conserve water, and reduce operating costs on your farm?

Join the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), the Contra Costa County Resource Conservation District (RCD), and Hot Spot Ag for a demonstration of an automated irrigation system in a local Brentwood cherry orchard. While the demonstration will take place in a cherry orchard, the technology can be applied to a wide variety of crops and agricultural operations.
