Access to essential health care can make a meaningful difference, especially for people facing barriers to care!

Catholic Medical Center is investing another $300,000 in the Poisson Dental Facility and Health Care for the Homeless Program, expanding access to dental, medical, behavioral health and social services for low-income residents and people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Greater Manchester.

This is the second installment of CMC’s three-year, $2 million commitment, bringing its total support for these programs to $600,000. It’s one more example of how community investment can help make sure more people have access to the care they need.

🩺 It’s ! From primary care and emergency medicine to surgery, behavioral health and everything in between, physician associates bring their expertise to patients across specialties and settings.

PA Week is a chance to recognize the versatility of the profession and the many ways PAs contribute to patient care, expand access and strengthen health care teams. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the students and future PAs who will continue shaping the health care workforce.

Happy ! This week, we’re celebrating the entire primary care team and the many people who work together to keep individuals, families and communities healthy.

From physicians and advanced practice providers to nurses, medical assistants and the many support staff behind the scenes, primary care is truly a team effort. Together, they provide preventive care, routine checkups, ongoing health management, connections to additional services and so much more.

What happens when you bring students, big ideas and some of today’s most pressing health care challenges together? 💡

HealthForce NH Senior Director Maureen Znoj recently had the opportunity to serve as a judge at University of New Hampshire's Health Innovation Ideathon, where undergraduate and graduate students spent two days developing creative solutions to challenges in mental health care and elder care and aging.

Working in teams, students took their ideas from early concepts to presentations, with guidance and feedback from health care and innovation leaders along the way. The weekend wrapped up with presentations to a panel of judges and the selection of three winning projects: BrainGate BIO, The Virtual Therapet, and Momentum.

It was exciting to see the creativity, problem-solving and passion these students brought to the table, and to get a glimpse of the ideas that could help shape the future of health care. Congratulations to all of the students who participated, and especially to this year’s winning teams! 👏

HealthForce NH Senior Director Maureen Znoj recently spent time at the Mount Washington Valley Adult Day Center, meeting with Director/Administrator Scott Fields and touring the center.

It’s clear how much thought and care has gone into both the program and the space. Guests can enjoy social interaction, educational programs, art, music, physical activities and more, alongside care services and individualized health plans.

One moment in particular will stick with Maureen. She arrived as guests were learning about a comfort dog, including how he was trained and what his job is. Their excitement and joy when they got to meet him was a moment she won’t forget. 🐾

The center’s promise to families says it best: “Your loved one enjoys the day. You have peace of mind.”

Creating an experience like this takes a dedicated, caring team. It’s also a wonderful reminder of the many people who make our health care system stronger every day, and why supporting New Hampshire’s health care workforce matters.

🦷 Curious about a career in oral health?

High school students interested in health care can get an inside look at the many career paths available in oral health through Southern NH Area Health Education Center's Bridging Pathways to Oral Health Careers program on Saturday, October 24.

The hands-on experience gives students an opportunity to explore oral health careers, learn from professionals and get a better sense of what a future in the field could look like. Last year, students participated in hands-on activities and connected with dental students to learn about career pathways right here in New Hampshire.

🍂 Fall is just around the corner, and so is respiratory virus season!

The N.H. Department of Health and Human Services is encouraging Granite Staters to take steps now to protect themselves and their families from seasonal respiratory viruses, including flu, RSV, and COVID-19.

Vaccination remains one of the best ways to help prevent serious illness, hospitalization, and complications. Recommendations vary by age, health history, and other factors, so talk with your health care provider about which immunizations are right for you and your family this fall.

A little preparation now can help keep more Granite Staters healthy throughout the season.
