🌟Staff Spotlight🌟 Kelli Caughey ☕️ has been with Columbus Hospice for almost 3 years. She starts as an RN on our GA Home Team and is now a Staffing Manager! When asked what she loved about her job she said, “I have always loved Columbus Hospice even before I started working for the organization. Once, I started here, I quickly learned that the compassion exceeds that of what I had seen as a nurse looking in. I love my current position and working so closely with the CNAs. Although every discipline is important, I feel they are the heart of Columbus Hospice. I have also been on the other side as a family member. My Mom was on service last year and received excellent care from her team. It has been and continues to be a privilege to be allowed into the homes of our patients at such an important time in their lives.” We are so thankful Kelli is part of our team!

Trust is the most crucial aspect of any relationship, whether with family, friends, or in business.

Trusting a team to care for someone you love while they navigate end-of-life is a deeper level of trust. This is one of the reasons we encourage our staff to be certified in the area of Hospice and Palliative Care. When you refer someone to us, we want you to trust that they will receive excellent care from experts in this field.

Bereavement services are an important part of the programs that Columbus Hospice offers to our community. Our grief support is open to anyone who has lost a loved one, not only patients' families under Columbus Hospice care.

Please call us at 706-569-7992 for more information about our community grief support options. Bereavement counseling is also provided to patients and families that are or have been on service with Columbus Hospice.

🌟Staff Spotlight🌟
The Rev. Allison Kennedy Owen, M.A. has been part of our Chaplain, Georgia Home Team for almost 14 years. In her role, she mainly visits patients in their homes and is their clergy from hospice. She also supports the family spiritually if needed. If the patient has their own spiritual leader, she does not replace them but rather, augments. If a patient has a faith need our chaplains can’t fulfill, they locate resources for them in the community. When asked about her role, Allison said, “ Rather, I help them figure out what it feels like (emotionally and spiritually) to die, or to be in the process of dying. I had a seminary professor who once advised us to learn how to say goodbye. It's important, to let people know what they have meant to you. I believe that allows for a more healthy and "complete" death.” We care for patients from all religions and faiths or those that are not religious at all.
When asked what she likes most about working at Columbus Hospice, she said, “In addition to meeting incredible people in the community, my colleagues are a close second. As we deal with such heaviness on a regular basis, we know how to rely on one another and support each another. Columbus Hospice is a wonderful organization and I'm honored to play a small part in helping people die in dignity and with grace.” We are incredibly grateful to have Allison as part of our Columbus Hospice team and her heart for caring for our patients and families!

Hospice care is never provided by just one person — it takes an entire team working together to care for patients and families with compassion, dignity, and support. ❤️

At Columbus Hospice, our interdisciplinary care team includes physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors, volunteers, and many others who each play an important role in walking alongside families during life’s most meaningful moments.

Together, we are honored to provide comfort, guidance, and compassionate care every step of the way.

At Columbus Hospice, we are honored to care for those who have served our country. We are committed to providing compassionate, veteran-centered end-of-life care that recognizes the unique experiences and needs of our nation’s heroes. 🇺🇸

Our team is specially trained in military culture and veterans-specific care needs. Through meaningful moments like veteran pinning ceremonies, we honor each veteran’s service, sacrifice, and legacy with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Thank you to all who have served. It is our privilege to serve you in return. ❤️
