Leadership Columbus The mission of Leadership Columbus is to develop, connect and inspire diverse leaders who serve as catalysts in building a strong and vibrant community.

An effective gauge of a community’s health and well being is the quality of the volunteer and civic contributions made by its leaders–those who serve on nonprofit boards and task forces, work with community groups and commissions and serve as elected officials. These citizen leaders must be nurtured and provided with the tools that enable them to be successful and inspires them to be committed and passionate community trustees. Today, Leadership Columbus provides education and training for emerging and existing leaders in the Columbus area. Since 1974, Leadership Columbus has been the premier training ground to educate, empower, equip and prepare more than 2,900 individuals to become the current and future trustees in and for our community. Leadership Columbus graduates have contributed to the quality of life in Central Ohio by their deeds and actions. In addition to completing more than 200 community projects, Leadership Columbus alumni have assumed positions of leadership in government, banking, business, industry, nonprofit sectors, politics, journalism, education, philanthropy, law and neighborhood development. In addition, graduates populate the boards of the arts, health care and innumerable other nonprofit organizations in Central Ohio.

Leadership Columbus Alumni were for last week's Columbus Metropolitan Club forum, "Can Columbus Become a City of Service?"

The conversation featured Columbus City Councilmember Nancy Day-Achauer, Columbus Metropolitan Library CEO Lauren Hagan, and Michael Koppel of Honor Flight Columbus, Inc., moderated by Dr. Frederic Bertley, President & CEO of COSI - Center of Science and Industry and CEO of The National Veterans Memorial and Museum.

Together, local leaders explored how service, collaboration, and community engagement can help build a stronger Columbus. Community trusteeship starts with each of us taking ownership of our community’s future and finding ways to serve.

Featuring Matt Habash, President & CEO, Mid-Ohio Food Collective; Danielle Tong, Executive Director, CelebrateOne with moderator Jerry Revish, Senior Pastor, Unity Temple, and Retired News Anchor, WBNS 10TV.

Hunger in Central Ohio is more than a food issue. It touches our workforce, health, education, neighborhoods, and the strength of our growing region. The conversation explored the role of partnerships, innovation, and technology in moving Central Ohio beyond emergency response toward a healthier, more resilient, and more equitable food system.

Since 1886, YWCA Columbus has worked to empower women, support families, and build a more equitable community. What began with five women determined to improve life for women and girls in Columbus has grown into a movement rooted in peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Last night, the Leadership Columbus community came together to reconnect, celebrate exemplary leaders, and support our mission to develop, connect and inspire diverse leaders who serve as catalysts in building a strong and vibrant community.

The highlight of the evening? Celebrating Charles Gehring (SP ’86), recipient of the Leadership Columbus Hall of Fame Award, and Francie Henry, recipient of the Honorary Graduate Award.

Formal wear paired with sneakers? Say less!

Friday was BLAST, COSI - Center of Science and Industry's Sneaker Ball and Leadership Columbus Alumni stepped . The evening was packed with ways to explore, from dazzling science experiences and art to live music, dancing, games, glowing cocktails and culinary creations.

BLAST is more than a night out. It helps support COSI’s Access Programs and expands opportunities for children and families to discover the wonder of science, supporting their mission to engage, inspire, and transform lives and communities by being the best partner in science, technology, and industry learning.

Yesterday, we sat down with participants and alumni from local leadership development organizations for , The Columbus Foundation’s annual community day of conversation.

Our conversation, “Reimagining the Table: Shaping the Future of Leadership,” explored the informal barriers that shape who is seen, sponsored, trusted, and selected for leadership roles, as well as what it looks like to collaboratively widen access and pass the baton across generations of leaders.

Dress for Success Columbus helps unemployed and underemployed women achieve economic independence by leading them onto the path of self-sufficiency through holistic personal and professional development.

Held at COSI - Center of Science and Industry, the evening celebrated the evolution of women, work, and empowerment through inspiring stories, an editorial-inspired runway, live entertainment, and community spirit.
