Healthy eating starts with helping children connect to where food comes from.

This fall, ASPHN is excited to collaborate with the National CACFP Association and the National Farm to School Network to celebrate Farm to CACFP Week this October.

Throughout September and October, we’ll be sharing resources and ideas that support Farm to CACFP—from local procurement and seasonal foods to gardens, nutrition education, and hands-on learning experiences that help children build lifelong healthy eating habits.

Follow along as we highlight practical tools and explore how Farm to CACFP can strengthen early care and education programs.

We’re celebrating National Farm to School Month with the National Farm to School Network🌱🍎

October is officially National Farm to School Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the connections between children, local food, gardens, farmers, and educators. Since its recognition by Congress in 2010, communities across the country have come together each October to highlight the impact of the farm to school movement.🍎

Whether you're growing food, serving local foods, teaching students about agriculture, or supporting policies that strengthen local food systems, there's a place for everyone to participate. We encourage you to take at least one action this month, big or small, to celebrate your role in creating healthy, thriving communities.🍎

🌟New Farm to Early Care and Education Resources! 🌟
National Farm to School Network has released a new Farm to ECE poster and sticker designed by artist Rachel Chung. These free resources help celebrate the important role early care and education programs play in the farm to school movement.🍎

Join us in celebrating National Farm to School Month and the many ways local food helps nourish, educate, and inspire children every day! 🍎

Yesterday’s Growing Teachers Throughout the Seasons (GTS) training was one for the books!

Educators from five counties came together with the shared goal to empower more children to grow, harvest, and try local foods through hands-on garden-based learning. 🪏

Each GTS training creates a ripple effect, equipping educators with the tools and confidence to bring gardening, nutrition education, and local food experiences back to their classrooms and communities.

Ready to inspire the next generation of growers and healthy eaters in your county? We hope to see you at a future GTS training! 🍅🌿🫜🥬
