We were proud to travel through southeast Ohio this past Tuesday for a special farm tour honoring the farmers, food producers and community partners who go above and beyond to fight hunger in their communities!

At stops in Washington Court House, Proctorville and Zanesville, we celebrated our inaugural Food Champion Award honorees: Saddleberk Pork Farms, Cockerill Berkshire Farms, Paint Valley Ministries Pantry, Phillips Meats and South Zanesville Food Pantry. Together, these food champions are helping move hundreds of thousands of pounds of Ohio-raised pork and other proteins to neighbors facing food insecurity, while connecting families with care, resources and hope.

Thank you to our honorees, legislative partners and state and local agencies who joined us or celebrated our food champions from afar. This includes Representative Peterson, Senator Al Landis For Ohio office, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Ohio EPA office, and RPHF Solid Waste District. Your leadership shows what is possible when farms, foodbanks, pantries and public partners work together.

Ohio's farmers are at the heart of the work we do. Through partnerships with local growers, farmers, and producers, the Ohio Association of Foodbanks helps recover surplus and cosmetically imperfect produce and get it to foodbanks across the state, reducing food waste and putting fresh, nutritious food on more tables.

Today, we celebrate the farmers who make that work possible. Thank you for all that you do! 🥕🥦

Happy ! Eggs are one of the most versatile and nutritious sources of protein for Ohio families, and today we're grateful for the hardworking egg farmers who help make them available.

Through partnerships between the Ohio Association of Foodbanks and Ohio's agricultural producers, more families facing hunger can access the healthy protein they need. Join us in celebrating by cracking an egg and thanking a farmer for all they do to nourish our communities!

A big thank you to Kroger, Nationwide, Ohio Farm Bureau, The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, and Ohio’s food and agriculture community for kicking off with the Feeding Our Neighbors Meal Pack event at Waterman Farm!

Thanks to the incredible volunteers who joined the effort, nearly 10,000 meal bags were packed to help support food pantries across Ohio. We’re grateful for the partnerships and volunteer spirit that help connect Ohio families with nutritious food. 💙

Ohio’s Field to Food Bank kicks off this weekend! Make a difference this hunting season by donating your harvest through the Ohio Division of Wildlife's Field to Food Bank program. Venison donations are accepted at no cost and, after processing, are distributed through local foodbanks to help provide nutritious meals for families facing hunger.

This weekend's donation sites:
• Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area (Wyandot County)
• Hog Creek Game Club (Allen County)
• Delaware Wildlife Area Shooting Range (Delaware County)

Drop off between 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Beginning October 1, USDA has updated SNAP maximum allotments, deductions, and income eligibility standards to reflect changes in the cost of living. These annual adjustments help ensure benefits keep pace with rising household expenses.

Check out the chart to see the new maximum allotment amounts for your household size. Please note that most households do not receive the maximum benefit amount, as SNAP benefits are based on household size, income, and certain allowable deductions and expenses.

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks helps to raise awareness about SNAP because it is an important part of how some households facing hunger put food on the table. Happy from the Ohio Association of Foodbanks! 🧡

We celebrated by wearing orange and hosting our annual all-orange potluck! It’s always fun to see what everyone brings, but this year, the chocolate chip pumpkin bread definitely took the cake. Or… the bread? 😂

Either way, it was a great day to gather with our colleagues, enjoy some good food, and celebrate the shared mission that brings us together: alleviating hunger in Ohio through our collective work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Harvesting Hope Tour: Farms, Faith and Foodbanks in southwest Ohio!

This tour highlighted the powerful partnerships between Ohio foodbanks, local farmers and producers, faith-based organizations, and community partners working together through the Ohio Food Program and Agricultural Clearance Program to get fresh, local food to families across the state.

We’re grateful to Happy Chicken Farms and Merry Milk Maid, Meta Church, Michael Farms, The WhereHouse through Urbana United Methodist Church (Ohio), Steven A. Hunter Hope Fund, and Sunrise Farms Markets for welcoming us and sharing the incredible work they do in their communities. From millions of eggs and hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh produce to pantry services, community meals, and home deliveries, these partners show what it means to be local food champions.

Together, we’re supporting Ohio agriculture, strengthening community partnerships, and helping ensure more Ohio families have access to nutritious food grown and produced close to home.

Thank you to the Lt. Governor's team, the Ohio Department of Aging, Sen Reynolds, State Senator Shane Wilkin , Sen Manchester, Sen T Johnson, Rep Tim Barhorst, and Rep Peterson for making this day special for our honorees!

What better way to celebrate than by bringing together Ohio's foodbankers? 🧡

Yesterday, foodbank staff from across Ohio gathered to share ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen the partnerships that help get food into the hands of neighbors facing hunger.

The day included peer learning sessions, discussions with OAF leadership on the fundamentals of foodbanking, and conversations about reducing food waste, increasing access to fresh and perishable foods, and overcoming logistical challenges. Attendees also explored innovative approaches to home delivery programs, community partnerships, and expanding food access across our state.

We are incredibly proud of our network and the vital work foodbanks do every day to serve communities in all 88 counties. Thank you to everyone who joined us and for your dedication to ending hunger in Ohio. Happy !
