Final FabArts fun before summer break! ☀️🩴

Our K-5th grade students designed colorful summer flip-flops filled with all the things that make summer so wonderful! From sunshine and beach vibes to bright colors and creative details, each project showed off their excitement for summer vacation.

To make them extra special, students added real straps to create a fun 3D effect. What a creative way to kick off summer! 🌴🎨😎

This week at Britt David Magnet Academy, FABArts students in grades K–5 created precious Mother’s Day portraits as special gifts for the amazing women in their lives! 💖

Students carefully drew portraits and designed beautiful decorative frames to showcase their artwork. The creativity, love, and thoughtfulness poured into each piece truly made them one-of-a-kind treasures. 🌸🎨

Our Kindergarten–5th grade afterschool artists at Britt David Elementary took on a fun (and tricky!) project this week with FabArts Artist Sietske Johnson—creating beautiful origami flower cards just in time for Mother’s Day (or a special someone 💐).

Students learned the Japanese art of paper folding to make tulips, and many went the extra mile by adding stems and leaves. Some of our older artists even challenged themselves with multi-petaled flowers—wow!

With paint pens for finishing touches and heartfelt messages, the results were something to be proud of. Students (and teacher!) were all smiles seeing their creations come to life.

Our FABArtists at BDMA had a blast creating “surprise” pictures with Mrs. Cece! 🎨✨

Students drew on folded paper, and when they opened it up—boom!—a whole new image was revealed. Their reactions were priceless, and everyone loved the element of surprise!

Creativity + curiosity = pure fun! 💥

🌸 Spring is in full bloom at Britt David! 🌸

Our talented K–5 afterschool students have been busy creating beautiful Japanese cherry blossom branches in their FabArts program with Mrs. Sietske Johnson! 🎨

Using a mix of creative techniques—liquid watercolor on Japanese rice paper, printmaking with water bottle bottoms, and delicate tissue paper petals—students brought these stunning blossoms to life. The best part? This project is fun, engaging, and perfect for artists of all ages!

Some of our young artists even made the connection to the famous cherry blossoms blooming this time of year in Washington, DC—how cool is that? 🌸

At Britt David, we love combining creativity, culture, and hands-on learning to inspire our students every day.
