More food for thought for our new facility. Instead of the constant GroupMe/texting to play, wouldn't it be nice to know that on certain nights you "..would get on the court and have a consistent experience." through organized play?

In Texarkana, Texas, six public pickleball courts revealed a pattern many communities are now experiencing. What started as a simple conversion from aging tennis courts quickly became one of the bu…

As we are all excited with anticipation of our new Pickleball facility opening this year, here is a blog post that’s excellent food for thought on how we want our facility to be. As the second largest city in Georgia, demand may outway supply at times even with 25 courts. Whoever runs our new facility, it will be extremely important for them to know the culture, set the tone and expectations focusing on all player satisfaction. What do you think about the way Let’s Go Pickleball and Padel run their facility?

Open play built pickleball into the fastest-growing sport in America. It's also where the sport's biggest culture problems live. Here's how we think about it.

Happy New Year, Pickleball family! 🎉

As we step into 2026, we’re filled with gratitude and excitement. For the past four years, the Columbus, Ga Pickleball Association has been a 100% volunteer-led effort with a shared belief that our city deserved a dedicated pickleball facility! Persistence made the difference—by staying committed through delays, setbacks, and years of behind-the-scenes work, we were able to turn a long-held vision into a project that is finally becoming reality.

Thanks to the incredible support of our grant partners & Donors who believed in this vision and what it could do for Columbus! That belief is now becoming reality.

We’re thankful to City Council (esp. Joanne Cogle for Mayor, Glenn Davis) for their support in helping move this project forward.

This project goes far beyond pickleball. It’s about creating a welcoming, safe, and vibrant community hub—one that encourages people to get outside, be active, connect with others, and help revitalize this section of Uptown Columbus.

Now, we look ahead with optimism. We can’t wait to grow this community, meet new friends, welcome new players, and continue expanding our pickleball family. 2026 is the year it all comes together—and the best is yet to come. See you on the courts in 2026!!

Many of you have been asking what’s going on with the new pickleball facility. Here’s what CPA can share publicly:

The City issued the required RFP for this project in July, and it closed in August.

Since then, we’ve all been waiting for the next public update from the City.

The process now appears to be slowed down by an additional review related to the TAD funds — even though the use of TAD funds for this project was publicly known back in May.

There is also still no MOU in place.

Like many of you, CPA is frustrated by how long this has been taking.

If you feel the same way, it would be helpful for Council to hear from the community. Council Member Joanne Cogle for Mayor has been our champion in support and getting funding and represents this district.
There is a council meeting tomorrow and residents can politely ask her to request a public update from the City.

The more they hear that people are watching and care about this project, the better. Thank you all for your support — this community is what keeps this moving.
