Harriet Hancock LGBT Center Our on-site programming is peer-led and creates a place for folx to be authentically themselves while navigating the complexities of identity.

The Harriet Hancock Center is an organization dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive space that supports, educates, and empowers the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. We also work with community partners to show up and advocate for the rights of not only the LGBTQ+ community, but our allies. We host social events and educational opportunities to serve an ever growing community. Our youth-focused events like Q***r Prom are hosted through our Youth OUTLOUD program which meets twice a month. We have a variety of groups for those who are 18+ through Q***r Collective. We also host open-to-all activities such as workshops, Pop-Up Closet or our First Sunday Supper, which is our oldest event hosted every month. When events are not hosted, the community is welcome to come by the HHC and relax our couches, get work done in our meeting room or study in the library. When our flags are out, we are open!

🎃 Mark your calendars for BOO BASH! Boo Bash is a spooktacular special event at the Harriet Hancock Center for all ages!

We will have drag story hours hosted by Marty McGuy and Meg Jones, spooky themed crafting, movies, snacks, candy, and other activities, all for FREE! Boo Bash will be at the Center between 5:30 and 9 PM, so drop by any time and celebrate the season.

🗳️ Early voting is starting soon so our Advocacy Coordinator, Natalia, is here to make sure you have all the information you need!

Early voting begins on Monday, October 19th and goes through Saturday, October 31st (except for Sunday, October 25th). Early voting centers are open from 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Not every polling place that is open on election day is open for early voting, so make sure to find an early voting site near you at scvotes.gov!

A quick update about Family Pride at SC Pride this year:

For more than 15 years, the Harriet Hancock Center has hosted the Family Pride section of the SC Pride festival. This year, SC Pride has asked the HHC not to host Family Pride as part of a reimagining of the larger festival.

While Family Pride will look different this year, the HHC will still be at SC Pride on October 17th with a resource table alongside other local nonprofits and community organizations on Main Street.

We’re grateful to everyone who has helped us make Family Pride a welcoming and affirming space for LGBTQ+ families and allies over the years. We hope you’ll stop by and see us at SC Pride!
