"Also known as Juneteenth Freedom Day, it commemorates the abolition of slavery in Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the Confederate South. On June 19th 1865 the Union soldiers brought the news to Texas that the war had ended and the slaves were now free," writes Svenja of Colours of Us.

We commemorate Juneteenth today!

in 1865, over 250,000 formerly enslaved African Americans in Galveston Bay, Texas, were freed when US Army troops arrived two years after the Emancipation Proclamation to enforce their freedom. The end of slavery was now in effect throughout the country. We celebrate Juneteenth as a reminder of the resilience, unity, and endurance in the pursuit of equality and justice for all.

Triple P—Positive Parenting Program® teaches parents different strategies and skills to raise their kids in a safe, loving and engaging environment. 🤍

The self-directed program allows you to learn at your own pace through videos and interactive activities. ✨ It's for caregivers of children from birth through the teenage years and is available in English and Spanish.

South Carolina parent and Children's Trust of South Carolina communications manager, Kara Anderson, shares a personal story of an authentic moment between her and her daughter, which prompted a hard, but transparent conversation with her dad. 🗣️
