Safety on the road is a shared responsibility. 🛣️ We can’t rely solely on driver attention to keep workers safe. Preventing work zone intrusions requires deploying positive protection—like temporary barriers and attenuators to redirect or absorb the impact of errant vehicles before they reach workers.

Local 1010 Vice President and Organizing Director, Lowell Barton, recently participated in a panel for the Centralized Construction Mentor Program, an initiative led by NYC's Office of MWBE to help small MWBE contractors navigate and compete for public construction opportunities.

Alongside industry partners, Lowell shared insights on union labor, workforce development, and the resources available to contractors seeking to grow their businesses while creating good-paying union jobs.

Local 1010 is proud to support programs that expand opportunity, strengthen MWBE participation, and build a more inclusive construction industry for all. Thank you to Building Trades Employers' Association for the invitation!

1010 Training Fund + LECET joined forces with NY Helmets to Hardhats at the Plumbers Local 1 Training Center to help put military service members into the unionized construction industry. It is an honor to help veterans build bridges from military service to the construction industry. From hands-on training to strong wages and lifelong benefits, union construction offers more than a job—it offers a future. Special thanks to the unions, instructors, and partners who made this event possible—and to every attendee ready to build something better.
