This past Saturday, May 9, Teamsters Local 808 President Osvaldo “Ozzie” Lo Verme, Vice President Giuseppe A. Marino, Recording Secretary Joseph Belmonte, Trustee Greg Barnes-Acerra, along with members of Local 808, were in attendance to show support and solidarity with our brothers and sisters of the Long Island Rail Road Bargaining Coalition.

Local 808 stands united with organized labor and remains committed to supporting fellow union members as they continue fighting for fair contracts, respect, and the rights of working men and women throughout the railroad industry.

Brothers and Sisters,

Congratulations to all the members of the first class of Boom Truck Operators to achieve National Certification through the NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators).

This accomplishment reflects the professionalism, skill, and dedication of our members who continue to raise the standard within our craft and our union. Earning nationally recognized certification is no small task and shows the commitment our members have toward safety, training, and excellence on the job.

Teamsters Local 808 is proud to recognize this milestone and the hard work each member put in to complete the program successfully.

Congratulations again to all involved on being the first certified class. Solidarity and continued success to all our brothers and sisters moving forward.

🎓 Teamsters Scholarship Fund – Applications Open Tomorrow!

Starting Saturday, November 1, applications for the 2026 Teamsters Scholarship Fund will be available at https://teamster.org/scholarships/

✅ Deadline to apply: May 1, 2026
✅ Award amount: $2,000 one-time scholarships
✅ Number of recipients: 600 students
✅ Who can apply: High school seniors, GED holders, community college transfers, and students attending trade or vocational schools — must be a child or financial dependent of a Teamster in good standing (excludes spouses and children of full-time union staff)
✅ Eligible programs: Four-year colleges, community colleges, and vocational/trade schools related to Teamster-represented industries
✅ Selection process: Recipients chosen by International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc.
