The Colfax VFW Post 2003 and Auxiliary's service this morning at the Colfax Native American Cemetery reaffirmed our commitment to honoring the sacrifices and service of our nation's heroes.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2003 of Colfax will be honoring those who made the greatest sacrifice possible - giving one's own life on behalf of others.

Far too often, the nation as a whole takes for granted the freedoms all Americans enjoy. Those freedoms were paid for with the lives of others few of us actually knew. That's why they are all collectively remembered on one special day.

By honoring our nations service members that are no longer with us, we preserve their memory and thus their service and sacrifice in the memories of future generations.

Ceremonies will commence at 11:00 AM Monday May 25th at the Colfax Cemetery and immediately following there will be another ceremony at the Colfax Indian Cemetery to honor those veterans the third ceremony will be at the Iowa Hill Cemetery.

Although we couldn't capture the moment, our Colfax VFW Auxiliary 2003 proudly honors veterans with quilts, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their dedicated service, including Terry Markus, USAF, and Daryl Snider, Navy veteran of 7 tours in Vietnam.

Rolling across the USA, our rockstar Veterans Awareness Riders are on a mission to deliver awesome quilts from the Colfax VFW Auxiliary 2003 to the coolest guys ever, our heroes in VA hospitals and homes, like Bruce Glass, the Coast Guard dude from Vietnam.

VFW Post 2003 member Don is riding with the Veterans Awareness Ride, spreading hope and gratitude, starting with a visit to the Reno VA Hospital, where 28 quilts crafted by Auxiliary member Carole Park and her talented group will be presented to Veterans throughout the United States on their ride , with Don proudly gifting one to a deserving hero.

VFW Auxiliary 2003 members Serene, Jan, Carole, and Sharon had the privilege to join forces with the Veterans Awareness Ride, bringing hope and camaraderie to veterans at Mather Hospital, as part of a cross-country journey uniting riders from every state in a mission to honor and support America's heroes.
