This past weekend we had the honor of attending Jameson Humane’s annual fundraising gala, Wineapawlooza, in the beautiful Napa Valley.

As a founding sanctuary behind LEAP, Jameson continues to inspire and impress us with the many programs they implement to help animals and people in the community.

This year to elevate our mission, their grant committee awarded LEAP a Grant for Global Stewardship which contributed to ensuring our humane education remains free and accessible for all students at sanctuaries across the US and Canada.

Thank you, Jameson Humane and Monica Stevens for all you do, and you stand for, and all the lives you continue change for the better. 💖🐽🐾

Today’s is Big Day of Giving, the Sacramento Region’s special day that brings people together to help fund nonprofits doing good work in our communities!

Whether you live in the Sacramento area or on the other side of the country, donating to LEAP helps ensure more kids and teens have access to hands-on education, interactive lessons, and opportunities to connect with animals and mentors in leadership training, veterinary medicine, photojournalism, animal and environmental law and policy and beyond.

Please give what you are able and help spread the word. Every little bit helps and no gift is too small to make a difference. 🫶

🐨 Check out our new series on wildlife conservation created by our very own students!

Each student at chose an animal to learn more about this year and received a bracelet so they could track them in the wild!

During our wildlife conservation lessons they learned about things like species’ range, keystone species, invasive vs. native, rewilding, and a myriad of ways humans are wreaking havoc on animals’ lives and ecosystems.

Tying that into leadership, they practiced some fun public speaking games and then had full creative license to create a short social media advocacy video for their animal.

Check out talking about koalas here and follow her advocacy page for more!

A great big THANK YOU is in order for for donating 50 of their bratwurst plant-based sausages to every single LEAP sanctuary for our Friends and Family Day!

hosted our event yesterday and every student attended bringing with them parents, siblings, grandparents, and friends to celebrate their year in the LEAP program.

Everyone was delighted with the food, vegans and omnivores alike, and we are so grateful to be able to introduce them to how delicious it can be to eat plant-based.

Celebrate Meatless Monday by grilling up some tasty sausages for dinner tonight (there’s a spicy version too), and support a great company doing important work for both humans and animals.

Thank you, Beyond! 🙏

LEAP student volunteers have their work cut out for them getting the animals they’re caring for to go to bed sometimes. 😂

Did you know chickens like to roost high off the ground because it makes them feel safer? Even though it may seem safe, it’s always important to lock your feathered friends up in a coop or barn at night because predators like raccoons and owls can easily harm them even when perched up high.
