The BG(R) Rodney L. Johnson and MAJ Spencer Johnson Memorial Scholarship

BG(R) Rodney L. Johnson graduated from South Dakota State University and commissioned as a 2LT in the US Army in 1977. He served as an MP Officer for 32 years culminating as the CID Commander and Provost Marshal General of the US Army.

MAJ Spencer Johnson was commissioned a 2LT MI Officer in 2005 through the Officer Candidate School. Spencer was attending the University of Texas in Austin working on his PhD in Southeast Asia studies when he felt the call to serve. Spencer’s first deployment to Iraq was with the 89th MP BDE.

Education is very important to the Johnson family. We hope this scholarship will help someone continue to grow in Rod and Spencer’s memory.

What a remarkable evening celebrating the spirit of service at the Armed Forces Pavilion & Community Garden with The Forgotten Soldier program, as Cindy Gustafson, Placer County Supervisor, and Josh Alpine, Placer County Water District, proudly presented quilts from our VFW Auxiliary 2093 to Ryan Gleason, who embarks on his journey into the Air Force, and his father, Chris Gleason, a proud Army Veteran.
