The Lantern Center for Recovery The Lantern is a residential sober living facility. We believe that drug and alcohol addictions are progressive, chronic and potentially fatal diseases.

It is OUR MISSION to provide quality sober living to the chemically dependent person and to educate and assist people with recovery from drug & alcohol addiction. We are a fully self-supporting, non-profit organization. The ability to pay is secondary. THE LANTERN will rely on donations and community support to assure no one will be turned away due to financial issues. Insurance does not dictate o

ne's length of stay and everyone treated is dealt with upon an individual basis. Although every resident shares the same disease when it comes to addiction, we here at The Lantern realize that every individual has their particular focus area that needs to be addressed. Residents are treated with the utmost compassion and care rather than being regarded as just another number or statistic. The primary goal of The Lantern is to help with recovery from these addictions and to continue to provide a support system to these people and their families. The Lantern will provide service and rehabilitation through discussion groups and 12 step meetings. These programs provide the most effective method of achieving sobriety. OUR VISION is to be a residential sober living facility accommodating those who think they might have a problem, who are in their addiction and want help and then to be able to come back for follow-up care and carry on the tradition of a clean and sober life.

Congratulations to Tim H., who celebrates 1 year sober today!!!!

Life is going to happen. Just because we get sober doesn’t mean we’re not going to face difficult, and often tragic, circumstances. We must find a way to build a defense against the first drink or drug. This defense is the most important thing in our lives, and it can transform the way we think and help us become better people who can help others.

Tim has built this defense. He has shown up during some of the most difficult times of his first year. He knows what works, and more importantly, he’s putting in the action to make it work! His understanding, kind heart, and smile make him a treasured Lantern Brother.

Congratulations to Nick B, who celebrated 5 years on the 17th!

What are we like when no one is watching? Do we act as if we have a little sponsee following us around, even when no one else is there? Be the Lantern brother who respects women, loves his family, shows up for people, and makes others feel safe.

Nick is honest with himself. He knows who he is and what he needs to be. He is a “Lantern Example” of success. Keep showing others, Nick, how to practice these principles! Keep lighting that path!!!!

Congratulations to Al W, who celebrates 5 years today!!!!

We had little hope sometimes coming in—but we did have hope! Sometimes we were brought in by car or even handcuffed, but we were still welcomed in. When we came into The Lantern, we saw the examples around us. We found hands willing to help. We found a small slice of peace. We felt as if maybe we belonged for once in our lives.

Al has 5 years today—that’s saying a lot. He found hope and recovery here at The Lantern. We’re proud of you, Al! Keep lighting the path!

Congratulations to Mick M who celebrates 16 years of sobriety today!!!!

On 8/13/2010 a man knocked on the door of the Lantern in desperate need of help. The Lantern was not quite open, there was construction going on everywhere, there was no kitchen, no sign on the door. But Tony Parker didn't turn this man away. Tony welcomed him in and he saw the good in this man and believed in him at a time when this man could not believe in himself.

Today we celebrate 16 years of uninterrupted sobriety for the Lantern's first official resident.
Happy Anniversary Mick M-- You are a miracle and a blessing.

Congratulations to Lantern brother Jeremy C, who celebrates the Great Eight! 8 years of sobriety today!

For some of us, it’s not our first time through the process. “What’s different this time, kid?” we get asked. Most of us don’t have an answer. We move forward one day at a time, trudging through each hour and learning to walk with purpose. The weeks are fast, and the days are long. Others see the change before we do.

If you knew Jeremy 8 years ago, you’ve seen the change. He’s opened his home, given his time, and led groups to help another Lantern brother. He’s an example. He’s a smile, a handshake, and when he asks, “How are you?” he really wants to know the answer.

We’re staying sober over here at The Lantern, bud!!!!

Keep lighting the path, Jeremy. Never stop!
