The Lakewood Tool Box is a tool rental library offering community members an affordable and educational option for borrowing tools.

The Tool Box is housed in a shipping container accessible off of the East Lot of the Screw Factory (13000 Athens Avenue).

Hey Lakewood! Check out our Tool Box Member Spotlight 🔦

Jen & Alex reached out to The Lakewood Tool Box to borrow a Rototiller and give their backyard a refresh! Tackling a yard project is easier than it seems, especially when you can borrow all of the tools you need from The Tool Box!

First Jen and Alex started by:
🌳 Rototilling the soil and removing any debris
🌳 Leveled soil to grade and raked it out smooth
🌳 Mixed in lawn soil to fill in any low spots and add nutrients
🌳 Spread the grass seed by following the manufacturer's directions
🌳 Cover with hay or other biodegradable covering
🌳 Water, based on seed instruction

Great job Jen and Alex! 👏We can't wait to see the new grass!

The Lakewood Tool Box, a program of the Housing Outreach Program, is a tool lending library that offers community members an affordable and educational option for borrowing tools that are essential for completing home repairs and improvements. Tool Box membership is open to all Lakewood residents, like Anthony and Hannah, who used this resource to completely re-landscape their yard.

“The Tool Box provides residents with an opportunity to do the projects that they want to do that they might not be able to afford. I’m not ultra-handy by any stretch of the imagination. Completing this project made us feel proud and accomplished. In addition, The Tool Box creates a sense of community and comradery. It’s right on par for what Lakewood is,” reflected Anthony.

🛠 The Lakewood Tool Box: Tool Sale is this Sunday from 9 a.m. until noon! *No early birds please.

🪜 This is a great opportunity for new homeowners to purchase a
variety of tools at affordable prices. We will have hand tools and used power tools, ladders and more available at this garage sale style event.

🧰 All the proceeds from the Tool Sale benefit The Lakewood Tool Box.
