Cleveland VOTES

Cleveland VOTES WHAT WE DO. We build upon the relationships nonprofits already have with the people they serve. OUR MISSION. To learn more, you can visit clevotes.com.

Cleveland VOTES is a nonpartisan, democracy-building movement that works to reconstruct and strengthen power through active participation of our collective partners. This enables us--in partnership with the community--to galvanize citizens in low-income or hard to reach communities to increase equitable civic engagement, democracy building, and voter participation & efforts for fair elections. Gui

ded by a system of networks, we promote informed, action-oriented mobilization that shifts power towards Equitable Civic Engagement and Infrastructure.

OUR VISION. Our collective work will power a transformation toward a more liberated future, offering access to tools that produce increased efforts in civic education, engagement, and advocacy. We will work with intentionality to amplify the voices of our neighbors, ensuring we have a more informed, participatory, and cohesive community. Cleveland VOTES looks forward to building democracy with you. NOTE: Due to the amount of spam messages we receive on Facebook Messenger, we do not respond to messages on this platform. Last fall, we had the privilege of partnering with the Detroit Justice Center to host a two-day Community Legal Advocate Training. The energy, collaboration, and commitment we witnessed during those two days inspired us to keep the momentum going.

Over the following months, participants continued to meet through a series of community of practice sessions. These gatherings created space to stay connected, share progress in our individual advocacy efforts, strategize ways to apply the tools and skills from the training in our communities, and continue growing as community advocates.

At the end of May, we came together for our final community of practice session! To close out the program, participants presented on how they have been using, or plan to use, the skills and knowledge gained throughout the training in their own advocacy work.

Thank you to every participant who showed up, engaged deeply, and committed to doing the work. We are excited to see how this cohort continues to create impact in their communities.

Civic engagement extends beyond voting and Pride has always been rooted in action. Organizing and advocacy, voting and speaking out, LGBTQ+ communities have long shown us what it means to fight for a more equitable future. 🌈✊

As Pride Month begins, we’re reminded that the work of protecting rights, dignity, and autonomy doesn’t end on June 30, and neither does our responsibility to show up for one another.

Across Ohio, legislation impacting LGBTQ+ communities continues to be introduced and debated. Your voice matters in these conversations because democracy works best when everyone is seen, heard, and empowered to participate.
