Most people don’t fail financially because they lack desire.

They fail because they lack a plan.

As Bob Lotich says in this clip, waiting to save “whatever’s left” almost never works. Expenses naturally expand to consume income unless we intentionally prioritize saving, giving, and stewardship first.

Simple systems can create long-term freedom.

Watch this powerful clip from our latest Stewardship Leader podcast conversation with Bob Lotich.

What Happens When You Give More Than Feels Comfortable?

In this clip, Bob Lotich shares something that completely challenged the way many people think about money and generosity.

Over time, he and Linda increased their giving until they were giving more than 40% of their income away each year.

You would assume their finances would shrink.

But instead, they watched God continue to provide and increase the resources entrusted to them.

Not because generosity is a formula…

But because stewardship changes the way we live, trust, and hold what God has given us.

One of the most powerful lines from this conversation:

“What if accumulation is the wrong scoreboard?”

When people align their lives and finances with God’s purpose, everything begins to change.

Generosity grows.
Stress decreases.
Debt loses its grip.
Joy increases.

And the ripple effects can impact every part of life.

Tim Russell shares a powerful reminder in this short clip about why stewardship is so much bigger than money.

God Isn’t Looking for Reluctant Giving

This is such an important reminder.

God doesn’t want giving that comes from:
- guilt
- pressure
- obligation

He loves a cheerful giver.

Why?

Because true generosity flows from the gospel.

When we begin to understand what God has given us—the life of His Son, something beyond measure—our response changes.

Giving becomes:
• joyful
• voluntary
• and rooted in gratitude

Not something we’re pushed into…but something we step into.

Why Money Feels Hard in Marriage

Because it is.

We often assume that when two people get married, finances should just “work.”

But that’s not reality.

As shared in this clip:

You’re not just merging money
You’re merging two completely different financial lives

Different experiences.
Different habits.
Different ways of thinking.

And here’s the key:

It’s not 1 + 1 = 2
It’s 1 + 1 = 4

Marriage creates something new.

Something better.

But it takes intentional work to get there.

That’s why financial conversations feel hard sometimes.

Not because you’re failing…

But because you’re building something together.

Many churches get stewardship wrong by treating it as a financial or budgeting issue.

But stewardship is not just about dollars and cents.
It is about the heart.

If we only teach giving without addressing what is underneath, we miss the deeper work God is doing.

That’s why we created Going Deeper in Stewardship.
This course unpacks the biblical foundations of stewardship and equips you to apply those truths in real ministry contexts.

Access this course, along with our full library of resources, through CSN membership.

At CSN, we believe generosity isn’t the end goal.

Every month, our membership gathers for life-giving and practical conversations around key topics in ministry. Tomorrow, we’re meeting to discuss how to disciple Millennials and Gen Z into lifelong generosity.

We’ll talk about how younger generations engage with giving, how to communicate vision in ways that build trust, and how to model stewardship in a way that resonates.

One of the most valuable parts of the Forum is the opportunity to hear directly from other leaders who are in the work every day. Not just the wins, but the challenges, the missteps, and the lessons learned along the way.

There is something powerful about being able to glean from both the successes and the struggles of others. It reminds us that we are not alone in what we are carrying, and it gives us practical insight into what actually works in real ministry contexts.

These conversations create a kind of unity that you cannot replicate from a distance.

They help us move forward with greater clarity, shared wisdom, and a deeper commitment to leading well in stewardship and generosity. We are so grateful for this network of leaders!

What Gets Celebrated Gets Replicated

This is such an important reminder for every church leader.

If we want to see people grow spiritually…
we have to celebrate the steps they take.

Joe Sangl puts it simply:

👉 Celebrate salvation
👉 Celebrate baptism
👉 Celebrate families choosing to follow God
👉 Celebrate missions
👉 Celebrate generosity

Even a first-time gift is a spiritual decision.

And when we celebrate these moments, we help others see:

“I want to take that step too.”

That’s how a culture of generosity and discipleship grows.

This clip comes from Episode 3 of our series: Celebrate It—the final step in developing fully generous disciples of Jesus Christ.
