What happens when we continuously witness trauma and genocide unfold before our eyes?

Dr. Sherene, Cleveland State University Professor of Psychology, discusses the impact of witnessing the ongoing genocide in Palestine — and how we care for ourselves while continuing to advocate and stand with the Palestinian people.

This is one of many forms of trauma we’ll explore at From Fractures to Foundations, addressing trauma within ourselves, our families, and our communities through psychological and Islamic perspectives.

🚨PALESTINE CULTURE FEST IS POSTPONED🚨

To our community,
 
Due to circumstances outside of our control, related to the city scheduling another event at the same time and location, we  have unfortunately been forced to make the very difficult decision to postpone the upcoming Palestine Culture Fest.
 
We have spent significant time considering every possible option and alternative. Ultimately, we feel postponing is the best way forward, to honor the time and energy that our community has already poured into this festival, rather than move forward with an event that would be less than what we intended and envisioned for our community.
 
We are incredibly sorry to our vendors who chose to support us and to our community members who have helped share, organize, and bring this event to life.
 
Unfortunately, this was not a decison we wanted to make, but we believe it is the right one. We are committed to finding a new date and bringing this festival to life in the way we originally intended, with Palestinian culture, community, and resistance at the center.
 
Thank you for continuing to place your trust in us to organize these events and for supporting our goal of connecting our community to the Palestinian struggle for liberation.

Join us on Sunday, September 20, 2026 for a vibrant celebration of Palestinian culture, heritage, art, food, music, and community at North Olmsted Park!

Palestine Culture Fest will bring our community together for an afternoon featuring:

📚 Cultural teach-in’s
❤️ And more opportunities to celebrate and experience Palestinian culture, heritage, and history.

In the face of ongoing attempts to erase Palestinian history, identity, and culture, celebrating Palestinian culture is an act of resistance. This festival is an opportunity to honor the generations who have carried Palestinian traditions forward and to celebrate the resilience, creativity, and sumud of our people.

This event is hosted in collaboration with the Cleveland Palestine Advocacy Community, Palestinian Youth Movement, and Smart Development, with funding support from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.

We are inviting local businesses, artists, makers, community organizations, and other vendors to be apart of our upcoming Palestine Culture Festival! Come share your work and join us in connecting with the community and celebrating Palestinian culture.

📅 Date: September 20th, 2026
⏰ Time: 1-6PM
📍 Location: North Olmsted Park

Vendors will be charged a $75 fee that will go directly toward supporting Ashraf’s Clean Water Campaign. Through the support of the Cleveland Palestine Advocacy Community (CPAC), Ashraf’s campaign has been providing clean water, food, and other essential resources to more than 3,000 families in Gaza.
