Russell Allen, a singer songwriter who’s best known for his work with progressive rock group Symphony-x, and a longtime member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, has released a new song dedicated to his daughter, Ava.

Ava was diagnosed with autism at one and a half years old. She was non-verbal at first, and now a very highly functional teenager. She had always struggled to make friends, and Russell remembers Ava coming home from school one day and asking “Daddy how am I supposed to be? All the other kids are playing on the playground but not with me.”

That moment became the basis and inspiration for this song that Russell wrote and recorded over the course of several years. The song is a father‘s wish that the world sees his child as he does.
