The long awaited update on our dumped little kitty!!
We are so sorry to have kept everybody waiting. We are SO happy to share that this sweet baby BOY has been successfully trapped and is in a short term foster this week while we evaluate him. A HUGE shoutout to our foster, Marian, for stepping up to take this kitty in on such short notice. YOU ROCK!! ❤️
Today, he was seen at Avon Lake Animal Clinic and has received a clean bill of health. 🏆🥇🙌 He is negative for FIV, heartworm, and feline leukemia. He has been dewormed and received flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. He received his first round of vaccinations and is actually already fixed! However, this is where we ran into a small issue. Whoever performed his neuter took too much off his ear. Eartips are standard for stray/outdoor cats as a way to alert those that see the kitty that they are already fixed. Whoever was responsible for his ear tip must’ve realized half way through the slice of his ear that they cut too much, and attempted to use surgical glue to repair before making a cut higher up on the ear. It didn’t heal correctly and the tissue where it was originally cut is dead. Our veterinarian ultimately decided it should be fixed by removing the top part and recutting the ear where it was haphazardly cut to remove the dead tissue and allow it to heal correctly. “Little Kitty” was deemed healthy and a good candidate for mild sedation, and under the care of their phenomenal veterinary care team, he is awake and recovering. While under sedation, he also received a microchip. He will be on antibiotics for a few days, but is otherwise a perfectly healthy kitty. He is estimated to be roughly one year old. He is incredibly sweet and made biscuits and purred the entire appointment. Even yesterday after we trapped him, he was quick to curl up on our chests, purring as loud as he could to tell us how grateful he was.
Two things: our bill is estimated to be close to $500. That includes the office call, all vaccines, deworming, SNAP testing, sedation, fixing his eartip, and his microchip. We will be posting our finalized bill later this evening when it is available.
Lastly, this little guy needs a name!! In an effort to boost visibility so he may find a forever home quickly + pay for his bill (but in a fun, cool way 😜), we are going to play….

For example, if you donate $5, your name entry gets entered five times OR you get five separate name entries, and so on. Any extra beyond today’s bill coverage goes towards litter, food, supplies, or vet care for this kitty, our fosters, and our route cats. We will be accepting donations + name suggestions until FRIDAY at 6pm, where we will then compile all of the name suggestions we’ve received, input them into a random generating wheel, and that is how his name will be chosen!! We will, of course, post our finalized bill later today 2/23 and the video of his name being chosen on 2/27. Not only is this a great way to throw in some silly, serious, and wacky names into the mix, but it will also help offset the cost of care we have taken on by bringing him in!!
Given that this little guy is completely healthy, we will start accepting adoption inquiries for him immediately. If you are interested in adopting him, please send us a private message and we will get an application to you as soon as possible. Our volunteers will review applications and we will be in contact with the family we believe is the best match for this sweet little fella.
