Our Educational Opportunity Center in Dallas County was excited to participate in the Bridges to Higher Education: Dallas College Community Day on May 30, 2026. Our College Access Coordinator, Dejah, connected with attendees as they explored information sessions and hands-on workshops designed to help students begin their journey at Dallas College.

This event provided valuable opportunities to meet instructors, discover academic and career pathways, and receive guidance for college and beyond. We are proud to support students as they take the next steps toward achieving their educational goals.

Our Educational Opportunity Center in Dallas County attended the Education Reach for Texans Conference at Dallas College's Bill J. Priest Center. This conference brought together organizations dedicated to promoting a culture of care for Texans with foster care experience as they pursue post-secondary education. 🎓️✨️

As one of a select group of resource organizations invited to participate, our team shared information about educational opportunities, college planning, and support services available to help students achieve their academic and career goals. We are proud to support initiatives that improve outcomes and expand access to higher education for students with foster care experience.

The TRIO Programs at ORS have helped thousands of students and adults gain access to higher education and build brighter futures. However, recent changes to the EOC Request for Proposal are deeply concerning and could put critical services at risk for the students who need them most.

If these changes move forward, hundreds of programs could lose funding, impacting thousands of students nationwide.

This week is TRIO Week of Action (April 27–May 1), and tomorrow is a National Day of Action for the EOC programs. We’re asking all TRIO supporters to take a few minutes to call their representatives and advocate for the EOC RFP to be rescinded, revised, and reissued. It only takes about 2 minutes per call.

Now is the time to speak up and support TRIO.
