What an interesting program we had today from Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), whose single focus is to empower abused children! Since its founding in 1995, BACA has grown into a worldwide biker organization with an international board, a multitude of members and hundreds of chapters. The Fort Worth Chapter serves Tarrant, Johnson, Denton and Wise counties. Thank you Wingman and Ele for spending an hour with us today and sharing how BACA empowers those who have been abused. One of our very own Lion Brian Bennett, M.Ed. Dean of Instruction, Business and Industry at Hill College, presented an informative program today sharing the many courses of study offered at the college. Hill College is a proud recipient of the Aspen Prize for community college excellence being named in the Top 150 for community colleges in 2025. The recognition is awarded every two years. Hill College has four campuses serving Hill, Johnson, Bosque, Somervell and Hood counties.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Lions White Cane fundraiser on Friday. Your $$$ help us provide eyeglasses and other vision services to our local kiddos in need. It was a hot day but Lions always make the best of it and have fun!

Haley Seale, Communications Marketing Manager for Meals on Wheels North Central Texas gave a clear message today that the organization is under a tremendous strain with lack of funds. Haley told Lions, "Meals on Wheels North Central Texas waitlist remains in place because there are more older adults who need the service than current resources are available" She praised Cleburne Lions and thanked all the volunteers who deliver meals to homebound seniors. "While we continue working to reach those waiting, we first have to make sure we can continue serving the seniors who already depend on us." Our special guest today was Dustin Phillips, CEO of Opportunity Resource Service, spoke to us today highlighting programs offered by ORS. Their mission is "to disrupt generational poverty in Texas by empowering vulnerable teens and adults to attain higher education degrees of value, secure gainful employment, and achieve social mobility." In 2025, ORS served 3,393 people in Johnson, Hill, Ellis, and Dallas counties. They are partners with Venus, Alvarado, Keene, and Rio Vista schools helping teens. They offer adult services in federal prisons and to any adult who has a desire to go back to school. ORS is located at 214 S. Ridgeway Dr. in Cleburne. Paige Harris, of the Cleburne Education Foundation, joined us today to share all the great things CEF does for our schools and community. Their focus is to connect our community to our schools to inspire students, empower teachers, and strengthen Cleburne ISD. CEF provide grants for our schools and scholarships for students.
