iSPACE Interactive programs for students, educators and families in science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM) that reach beyond the formal classroom

Founded in 2001, iSPACE, the STEM Learning Place, makes learning exciting! iSPACE provides the Greater Cincinnati region with opportunities for students in grades Pre-K through 12 to supplement their education in areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Both in-house and outreach programs are offered for students, educators, organizations and families with an emphasis on hands-on learning in the areas of STEM. By working in conjunction with, or to supplement, formal classroom learning, iSPACE programs help drive interest in STEM while raising the awareness of careers in the sciences, engineering and technology fields. iSPACE students explore robotics, rocketry, and more. They engage in active, hands-on problem solving and team-based projects. They build the skills and confidence they’ll need in college and as they join our region’s workforce with careers in manufacturing, technology, research, health care, etc. iSPACE programs are aligned with national and state educational standards and complement teaching curriculum across the Greater Cincinnati Region.

Fall evening robotics students are having a ball building robots and coding them to perform jobs, while learning about how scientists use robotics in useful ways. Looks like a great time to me! Nothing beats hands-on learning for STEM.

Bond Hill students battled it out in a session of "Sphero Battle Bots!" Teams designed robots to move around and protect themselves, with the goal of being the last one intact! Students love applying themselves to these challenges that include maze driving challenges as well as creating the battle bots. Nice job!

ISPACE, Miami University and Ross Middle School welcomed a group of 5th to 8th ladies to the world of programing using Python. These ladies come from various schools around the Cincinnati area- Lakota, Ross, Mason, as well as Private schools and home schools. Next week they will learn from Miami Computer Science students about entering the field of Cyber security. Such a great opportunity! If you have a student interested in learning more about computer science, check out the website link for more information about this free program. https://ispacestem.org/pages/girls-who-code.
