FORTY SEVEN ‼️ camp staff alumni out at Cub World for our picnic today! That’s a new record for us! 💯
Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy food and fellowship with us. We had camp staff from so many different eras and great representation from CW and CF.
Stay tuned for more fun events in the future! ☀️

Another summer camp is in the books!

Over 3,200 Scouts and Scouters spent part of their summer on 1,200 acres that Dan Beard Council, Scouting America owns and operates.

Three things stood out.

1. Our summer camp staff are largely 16 to 20 years old. They opened the ranges, taught the merit badges, managed the schedules, and made judgment calls under real pressure, often before they have held any other job. No internship asks more of a teenager.

2. At the Dever Family Foundation Skilled Trades Education Center, campers earned more than 500 merit badges in robotics, welding, automotive maintenance, and other skilled trades. Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky need those workers. We are putting the trades in front of young people while they are still choosing a direction.

3. And the adults. Volunteers who spend a week at camp recruit more Scouts and stay in their roles longer. Rain, mud, and a shared campfire do something no orientation session can.

Camp is our largest classroom. It is also our strongest retention tool, our best leadership laboratory, and a growing part of this region's workforce pipeline.

To the volunteers, camp staff, partners and Council staff who made this summer happen: thank you.

It’s a new dues‑paid year! If you’re looking to renew your membership, you can do that here:
https://danbeard.org/alumni/camp-staff-alumni-association/

Membership runs from August 1st to July 31st. Dues are $10 for current camp staff, $15 for camp staff alumni, and $200 for lifetime membership.

Not sure yet? Non‑dues‑paid members are always welcome at any DBCCSAA event. Come to our next gathering and see what we’re all about.

Some DBCCSAA members had a lot of fun Scouting around today at the 2026 Scouting America National Jamboree. They even crossed paths with an old friend who is on staff this year. Camp Staff takes you places. Do you recognize any of these familiar faces?

Another excellent year in the books for the Camp Friedlander staff!
