This year, Camp Hook turns 100. A former Boy Scout summer camp, Camp Hook was sold in 1996 and is now a part of Twin Creek MetroPark. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Dan Beard Council is hosting a district camporee May 1st-3rd. Among other events, there will be an Alumni Dinner at 6:30 PM on Saturday, May 2nd. On Sunday, February 8th, we're going to do a once-over of the staff cabins to see what fixes or replacements will be needed before the summer 2026 season. Come out and join us! Many hands make light work. 😁
We'll meet at Cub World at 1pm and do the sweep through. We won't be fixing or replacing anything that day-- just taking a peek to see what is needed this spring.
Come join us! It won't take too long, and this little bit goes a long way for making the DBSR staff have a more comfortable summer in their cabins.

The DBCCSAA would like to give a huge shoutout to Ranger Jason Neal today as the new Skilled Trades building opens! Anyone who knows Jason knows that he’s been talking about a space like this for youth for nearly a decade (if not longer). His vision and passion is a big part of why this building exists, and we’re proud of him for the time and work and love he poured into this project. Hear hear, Jason! We loved seeing you on all the video updates of the building!

⭐ The Banquet focuses on recent and current camp staff alumni and what they perceive are the needs of the camp staff of DBSR!
⭐ We'll talk about projects we've done in the past and we'll have a "suggestions box" for future projects.
⭐ We'll have some of the administration from Camp Friedlander and Cub World in attendance to talk about the upcoming camp seasons, answer questions, and discuss staffing.
⭐ We'll feed you a delicious dinner while you learn more about what camp staff 2026 will look like.
⭐ Alumni of years past will be able to share ideas of things that have worked well for their generations of camp staff, and alumni of recent seasons can discuss challenges they had for the chance to brainstorm solutions.
⭐ We can discuss resources for recruiting staff and more.

🚨 In previous years, this event was in the dining hall. Due to repairs, it will be held in the SAC instead. 🚨

Excellent attendance at the winter social last night! We had about 26 staff alumni come out! Thanks to everyone who came out to eat, socialize, play co****le and other games, and exchange gifts! 🎁
