ICYO wraped up two hot, humid two days at the Madisonville CRC Tennis Courts. The ICYO tennis players took plenty of water breaks. They practiced their FHGS, BHGS, & learned to volley followed by footwork drills.

They also played a little soccer and basketball or rested in the shade talking before going to the Learning Center for lunch, an art activity mixing play dough primary colors, making bead bracelets and playing xbox sports games in our game room.
Next week we will begin academic tutoring as needed.

Tuesday June 9, driving in the rain to the Madisonville CRC Tennis Courts this morning. The rain stopped right at 10 am.
All the ICYO kids disembarked from the vans including some new students.

Jeanne Bell taught the new players a FHGS &
BHGS on the grassy knole near the courts.

Then Nick Lazaro and our staff took the kids to the Baseball Field to play " Tennis Baseball"
It turned out to be a FUN morning hitting groundstroke tennis balls into the outfield while half our team of kids tried to tag the base runners.

At 12:20 we all headed to the ICYO Learning
Center for lunch and games.
Nick finished setting up a video game room on a large screen television for the boys while the girls made bead bracelets, and spent time on our lab computers. The younger girls did drawings and even a game of ping pong.

Inspite all the gloomy weather, all the kids had an active fun day.

Monday June 8, inspite of hot, humid temperatures, our young tennis players learned their BHSG and reviewed their FHGS. Then had fun playing on court tennis games like tennis baseball, red light - green light, & balancing tennis balls on their strings while having a relay race.

They took many water breaks, including playing in the water fountain water, and playing Parachute games on the grass.

Following lunch the kids used their artistic skills decorating their sun visors with acrilyic markers. Before leaving
some students chose books to take home for summer reading.

ICYO'S Summer Tennis Program finished their first week at the Madisonville CRC Tennis Courts made possible by a First Serve grant.

Our ICYO kids, many new to the program, learned the tennis court rules, the lines of the courts, and learned a FHGS followed by many fun tennis games.
Each morning began with a light breakfast of bananas, breakfast bars & juice boxes.

Following tennis camp, the kids were transported to the ICYO Learning Center for lunch, provided by Raffel's Catering, some academic tutoring, board games and computer lab games.

On Wednesday, the kids were treated to an art project by ICYO Admin., Ms Alain. They experimented with the primary colors of paint to see how many different colors they could create.
Next week Ms Alain will frame each painting for each child to take home.
