Resident Spotlight: Meet Austin!
“My name is Austin, and I am an addict. My clean date is 7/14/25.”
Before coming to Serenity Recovery Network, Austin spent years searching for recovery and moving between different sober living houses. Along the way, he noticed there were certain people in recovery who stood out to him. They carried themselves differently, and although he couldn’t fully explain it at the time, he knew he wanted what they had. That search eventually led him to Serenity.
Austin shares that recovery hasn’t always been easy, but the brotherhood and accountability he’s found here have changed his life. In a world where men are often taught to hide emotion, he says Serenity has created a space where vulnerability, healing, and growth are encouraged.
“Even on the days I fall short of the man I want to be, the support here gives me the chance to learn and grow instead of tearing myself down like I used to.”
When Austin first entered recovery, his only goal was to stop using substances to escape how he felt. Today, his vision for his life is so much bigger.
Today, Austin is a son, brother, grandson, and friend. He’s employed at a job he loves and serves as a peer mentor at the treatment facility that helped save his life, giving back to other addicts walking their own recovery journey.
When asked about his goals moving forward, Austin said:
“My goal is to continue getting uncomfortable in growth and to remain teachable. The sky is the limit.”
We are incredibly proud of you, Austin, and grateful to walk alongside you on this journey.
