Helping special needs and at risk cats Cincinnati Cats is a small rescue consisting of just 6 volunteers.

We are dedicated to helping special needs and at risk cats brought in to our local open admission shelter. We pull these cats, provide the care and support they need to be adopted, and then find good homes for them.

Getting more cats ready for barn homes. We are extremely grateful for everyone who is helping the cats at the Red Lion site. These wonderful cats didn't ask to be in this unfortunate situation. Thankfully there are amazing people in this world willing to help. Thank you.

Our efforts to save the cats in our Red Lion project continue to move in a positive direction. We delivered 3 cats to a wonderful barn home this week. We sincerely thank Crystal and her family for helping save these cats.
Our long time connection with barn homes, Mandy, pulled out all the stops in lining up potential homes for many of the cats. Thank you Mandy!

This little guy started life as an outdoor kitty. Bart made the transition to indoor life just over a year ago. Today he saw our wonderful veterinary partners at Cincinnati Hills Animal Clinic for his annual checkup and vaccines. He was very concerned about being in a carrier and I was worried how he would do being handled by strangers. But the gentle nature of Dr. Katie and Emily gave Bart the reassurance that he was safe. Bart allowed them to handle him for the exam and didn't even flinch when given his vaccines. We sincerely thank Dr. Katie Carullo and the team at CHAC for always being there for our rescue and family cats.

Friends,
We are working to help a group of cats left behind when a property was sold. Originally there were more than 40 cats. Cats identified as being adoptable have all been taken in by local shelters and people associated with the project.

We are now desperately trying to find barn homes for cats not suitable for regular adoption, as well as placement for a few Cats showing neurological symptoms similar to CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia).

Cats will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV & FeLP, and vaccinated. We currently have 3 males ready to go to a barn home. We can transport cats 3 hours from Cincinnati, or further for multiple cats.

Hillary is a petite, reserved young (about 2) cat with some neurological symptoms affecting her mobility. She is one of about a half dozen cats at the Red Lion site showing similar symptoms. In early June we brought Hillary in for medical evaluation in an effort to see what we were dealing with the neurological cats.

We believe that Hillary and the other neuro cats are affected by some form of cerebellar dysfunction. We can't be certain if the origin is genetic or has an external cause. Due to the circumstances on site, there has undoubtedly been some inbreeding which easily could have caused these symptoms to occur in multiple generations of the cats. This will certainly challenge us in finding options for the affected cats, but we do thrive on challenges.

We are grateful for the amazing veterinary resources working with us to help the cats at the Red Lion site. These veterinarians have worked with us to determine what we can about Hillary and the other cats showing neurological issues.

We have a number of cats looking for barn homes. The cats have various levels of friendliness, but none are true ferals. All have been living together on a rural property that was recently sold. Needless to say, these cats did not ask to be abandoned like this. The cats will be spayed/neutered, tested and vaccinated before adoption. There are no adoption fees. We just want to save these cats.
We currently have 3 very friendly males ready to go. These three can be handled, but are not ‘cuddle’ cats.

This little sweetheart is Hillary, one of the cats from our Red Lion project. Like a number of cats on that site, Hillary is showing signs of neurological issues. Our partners at SPCA Cincinnati have performed extensive testing and treatments for possible causes of Hillary's condition, with no answers so far. We are hoping that if we identify her condition it will help us with the other cats on site.

Today we had Dr. Goodman examine Hillary. As one of our veterinary team who has helped us with numerous special needs cats over the years, Dr. Goodman and her team are a valuable asset when we are facing a mystery such as this.
We thank Dr. Goodman and her team at Evendale Blue Ash Pet Hospital and we are honored to have the help of SPCA Cincinnati in the effort to save all these cats.

Cincinnati Cats has scaled back our operations the past few years, no longer taking in adaptable cats and limiting ourselves to smaller projects. We have continued supporting our special needs cats in sanctuary and numerous efforts helping groups and individuals with neighborhood cats needing help. Thanks to the generous and continued support of donors, we have been able to help out in a larger effort including a number of special needs cats. Please see the website for details.
