Tonight, members of the Chocowinity Fire Department took a break from the daily routine and held a friendly pickleball tournament as part of our commitment to health and wellness.

Firefighting is a physically and mentally demanding profession. Staying active helps our members build strength, improve endurance, reduce stress, and maintain the fitness needed to serve our community safely and effectively. Just as important, spending time together outside of emergency responses strengthens teamwork, communication, and the camaraderie that carries over to every call we answer.

Events like this remind us that taking care of ourselves helps us take better care of others.

Serving our community starts with taking care of our own. ❤️🚒

Over the past several months, the Chocowinity Fire Department, Aurora Volunteer Fire Department, and Blounts Creek Fire Department worked together to secure a regional assistance to firefighters grant (AFG) aimed at replacing all self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) equipment within our departments.

The regional grant, administered by Blounts Creek Fire Department and including Aurora VFD and Chocowinity Fire Department, awarded more than $1 million in new SCBA equipment and accessories. This funding has allowed all three departments to upgrade to state-of-the-art breathing apparatus that meet current NFPA standards, improving firefighter safety and operational readiness throughout our communities.

Through this grant, Chocowinity Fire Department was able to replace every SCBA and air cylinder carried on our apparatus. Equipment received includes:

* 32 Scott X3 Pro 4.5 SCBA air packs
* 64 4,500 PSI carbon fiber 30-minute cylinders
* 41 AV-3000 facepieces
* 25 voice amplifiers
* 2 RIT Pak III systems with 60-minute cylinders
* 1 RIT Pak Fast Attack system with a 30-minute cylinder

This equipment provides our firefighters with the latest technology, enhanced respiratory protection, and improved emergency response capabilities. We are extremely grateful for this investment in firefighter safety and for the strong partnership between our neighboring departments that made this regional grant possible. Together, we are better equipped to protect the citizens and visitors of our communities

What an incredible weekend at the Chocowinity Fire Department Spring Heat Car Show! We want to thank everyone who came out, brought vehicles, supported our department, and helped make this event such a huge success. The turnout was outstanding and seeing the community come together made the day truly special.

We appreciate every participant, vendor, spectator, volunteer, and supporter who helped make this year’s event one to remember.

Chocowinity Fire Department was proud to host a rest stop for participants in the 2026 Carolina Memorial Bicycle Ride, part of the Law Enforcement United memorial ride from South Carolina to Washington, DC, held in memory of fallen law enforcement officers. We extend our best wishes for their continued safe travel to Washington, DC.
