Beaufort County Police Activities League - BCPAL Local non-profit teaching aviation to youth in Beaufort County, North Carolina.

This page informs youth, their parents and benefactors of the various programs of Beaufort County Police Athletic League (BCPAL). BCPAL uses a variety of teaching methodologies including class experiments, interactive software simulation, field trips, and hands-on individual-team building projects to improve student competence in STEM related subjects and critical thinking. Phase I of the project

exposes the youth to robotics via a team approach using a variety of robotic kits that will challenge the youth with an increasing degree of cognitive difficulty while introducing basic computer programming skills. The robotics program also introduces the youth to aerospace and industrial applications of robotic systems. Phase II of the program exposes the youth to the historical evolution of flight from hot air balloons to 21st Century powered flight and the concurrent aerodynamic concepts and flight control surface operation. Weather systems and the principles of magnetism relative to navigation are also examined. Remote control aircraft and remote control aircraft simulation software is a key component of this program. Phase III involve the youth being exposed to boats, physical science principles relative to marine operation and a boat safety orientation program.
