Meat-raffle tickets are sold separately at the event. During each round, we’ll spin the Ruck 22 wooden raffle wheel multiple times, giving ticket holders plenty of chances to win! There will be 12 rounds throughout the afternoon:

🎟️ Select rounds are $2–$3 per ticket
🌊🥩 The final SURF & TURF round is $5 per ticket

Today, October 3, marks German Unity Day—the anniversary of East and West Germany officially reuniting in 1990.

I was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army when the Berlin Wall came down on November 9, 1989. By the time reunification became official, I had already left Germany. Looking back, it is powerful to know that my years of service overlapped with such a historic turning point.

Today also reminds me of the many service members who stood watch in Germany throughout the Cold War. Their service is part of a history worth remembering.

At First Capital Ruck 22, we believe every veteran has a story worth hearing. Some memories bring pride, some carry pain, and some stay with us for a lifetime. Taking the time to listen can help a veteran feel connected and remembered.

To everyone who served in Germany: What years were you there, and where were you stationed? We’d love to hear your story.

🇺🇸 A message to my fellow veterans:

For years, I didn’t file for conditions that have affected me since my military service. Part of me didn’t want to face them. Another part felt someone else needed the help more.

I know many of you feel the same way.

Another veteran’s suffering doesn’t make yours disappear. You can care about them and still seek help for yourself.

Be honest about what happened, what still hurts, and how it affects your daily life. Let the evidence and the VA claims process determine what you qualify for. Don’t count yourself out before you even ask.

If your battle buddy were struggling, you would encourage them to get help. Give yourself that same consideration.

We spent years looking out for each other. That should include helping each other accept support, too.

If this sounds like you, talk with an accredited Veterans Service Officer about your options. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
