This Memorial Day, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who gave everything for our country. We remember with gratitude, we mourn with compassion, and we pray for the families who carry both pride and loss.
May we never forget. 🇺🇸

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18.

After 4 years of wonderful service to the Chillicothe community, I Captain Travis Payne will be moving on to my next appointment.

These past 4 years have meant more to me than I can fully put into words. It has been a joy and a privilege to serve this Corps and this community—building relationships, walking alongside you all in both the highs and lows, and seeing God at work in so many lives.

I am incredibly grateful and thankful for the love, support, and partnership we’ve experienced here.

While it is never easy to say goodbye, I trust in God’s leading and I am confident that God is continuing His good work here in this wonderful community.

I hope to have the opportunity to personally say thank you in the days ahead. Please know how deeply you are loved and appreciated.

My final day in Chillicothe is Sunday - June 28th

Please be in prayer over my transition the beautiful new family coming in as we transition into this new chapter in the BLESSED history of the Chillicothe Salvation Army.

(Please keep your eyes posted to the page as we will have a few more announcements ahead)

On this Mother’s Day, we pause to honor the incredible women whose love and sacrifices form the backbone of our families and communities. Mothers possess a unique strength—a blend of tenderness and resilience—that shapes the hearts and minds of future generations. Their unwavering support and boundless love create safe havens where dreams are nurtured and challenges are faced with courage.

As we celebrate these remarkable women, let us reflect on the profound impact of their nurturing presence in our lives. Whether through guiding us with wisdom, comforting us in times of sorrow, or cheering us on in moments of triumph, mothers embody the essence of unconditional love.

Today, we express our deepest gratitude to all mothers and mother figures, acknowledging the irreplaceable role they play in shaping a compassionate and loving world.

A Legacy of Light: Celebrating Black History Month

As we celebrate Black History Month, we carry forward Commissioner Israel Gaither's powerful challenge: "This is about light and The Salvation Army becoming a light shining in darkness. We've got to be that beacon of hope and light in America more strongly now than ever." ✨

This celebration extends beyond February—it's our ongoing commitment to honor the profound contributions Black Americans have made to The Salvation Army and our nation. From Commissioner Gaither's historic leadership as the first Black National Commander, to countless officers and soldiers serving faithfully across our communities, Black Salvationists continue to strengthen our mission in immeasurable ways.

In a world that often feels divided, we find hope and a vision of unity in Christ. The beautiful diversity within our Army reflects the Kingdom of Heaven that awaits us all—where people "from every nation, tribe, people and language" (Revelation 7:9) stand together before God.

Today and every day, we commit ourselves to being that beacon of hope—loving inclusively, serving helpfully, and discipling effectively – All for Jesus.
