Trio Animal Foundation After the dogs have received medical treatment, TAF pairs them up with our therapy dogs to focus on their emotional rehabilitation.

TAF is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that pays for the medical bills of some of the sickest, abused and neglected dogs impounded at Animal Control or left to fend for themselves on the streets of Chicago. The Trio Animal Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that pays for the medical bills of some of the sickest, abused pets left behind at open access shelters. Once we fix their bodies we are able to heal their hearts and teach them to trust again, making them adoptable and ready for their forever homes. But that’s not all …TAF also assists shelters, rescues and individuals by paying the medical bills of homeless pets while promoting adoption and responsible pet ownership, including spay and neuter.

Momma Truvy's puppies will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Tonight, I gave the puppies their first nail trim. Blaze, Bolt, Flash, Jett and Swift did so well and their puppy breath was off the charts. The puppies teeth are starting to come in and the puppies are starting to chew on each other. Baby Jett is walking the most and "tackling" his siblings. The other puppies aren't quite there yet but I am sure they will be over the weekend. Pretty soon I'll have to double the size of their whelping box. The puppies are so soft and cuddly. They are starting to wag their tails and every once in awhile I hear a little bark or growl. It is going to be a very eventful next few weeks!

No news on Hazel Grace's test results, yet. She has been pretty dumpy from being sedated yesterday. However, when I just told her that her physical therapist Jeanine is coming over she got a big smile on her face. 🩷

I just picked Hazel Grace up from MedVet Chicago. Her ultrasound showed that she has several nodules on her liver. A sample from one of the nodules was taken and sent out for testing. We will find out the results tomorrow.

Praying for the best possible outcome. 🙏

I just dropped Hazel Grace off at MedVet Chicago for her abdominal ultrasound. Her vet technician was so nice and worked with Hazel Grace way back in 2014 when she first went to MedVet for her burns and skin graft. Hazel Grace has such a big family in the medical community in Chicago. 🩷

I will make sure to keep you updated as the day goes on. Please send some calming thoughts and prayers to Hazel Grace. As much as she loves the attention, I am sure that she is nervous.

Hazel Grace wanted to let everyone know that she is going in for an ultrasound tomorrow morning. The results from her senior blood panel were not good and her liver and kidney values are worse than last year at this time. Hazel Grace's belly has also been bloated and getting her to eat is often a challenge. (She does have one favorite treat that usually does the trick, though)

Hazel Grace is to be dropped off at MedVet Chicago at 8 am and Dr. Dozeman will be caring for her. Last August, Hazel Grace had an abdominal x-ray at MedVet so it will be good to have a reference point. The reality is that Hazel Grace is over 14 years old (at least) and this just might be the aging process. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by amazing specialists that can give us answers and provide help to Hazel Grace.

I will make sure to keep you posted. Of course, this makes my heart hurt but knowing that she is being given every opportunity to live life to its fullest is all we can ask for. Please send some positive thoughts and prayers her way. Thanks

Penelope went to the vet today and got some disheartening news. When TAF picked up Penelope from an open access shelter in October of 2025, she had just been transferred over from the police department. Her owner had literally kicked her out on the street. X-rays in 2025 showed that Penelope had a broken sternum after being kicked in the chest. Over the past year, the bones in Penelope's chest have irregular healed and caved in her chest cavity. Because of this, the chest cavity around her heart has decreased and pressure is being applied by the bones. (Not sure if I am wording this properly) In time, this is going to directly affect the hearts ability to pump. When in certain positions, you can already hear some wheezing. There is nothing medically that can be done but continue to give her the best quality of life.

Penelope is still playing with the therapy dogs and loving her life. She is officially considered a hospice dog and will stay a part of the TAF family. Penelope loves the therapy dogs and they are her pack. Life will go on as she knows it and we will take each day as a victory. Penelope is loved beyond measure and we will be by her side until the very end. 🩷
