Over the past year, our partnership with Firstsource has helped strengthen library spaces, improve access to books, and create meaningful experiences for the children we serve.

From organizing and cataloguing books through our Story System to supporting library development and donating reusable bags and stationery kits, every effort contributed to creating welcoming spaces where children can learn, imagine, and grow.

These contributions helped ensure that every child who walks into a Bookwallah library feels inspired to explore the world through a more hopeful lens.

Thank you, Firstsource , for helping us turn libraries into organized spaces of discovery, creativity, and possibility for every child.

Can you remember a story that changed the way you saw life as a child?
Stories have always been one of the ways humans make sense of the world around us. They help us understand ourselves, navigate difficult emotions, and imagine possibilities beyond what we can see.

At Bookwallah, we believe in the profound impact that a storybook can have on a child's life. For children who have experienced trauma or grown up in difficult circumstances, their reality can often feel defined by limitation and hardship.

That's why creating a consistent safe space matters. Through books, conversation, and connection, children are given the opportunity to explore their emotions, build resilience, and discover perspectives beyond their immediate reality.

Behind some of the products we use every day are supply chains we rarely stop to think about. For millions of children around the world, childhood is interrupted by labour when it should be filled with learning, play, and possibility.

Every child deserves the chance to experience the wonder of childhood—to turn pages instead of carrying burdens, to explore ideas instead of facing responsibilities far beyond their years.

On , we are reminded that awareness matters. The choices we make as consumers, the organizations we support, and the conversations we have can all contribute to a future where children are protected, educated, and empowered.

At Bookwallah, our work begins with imagination. Through stories, books, and safe spaces, we help children discover worlds beyond their immediate circumstances. Because before a child can dream of a different future, they must first be able to imagine one.

Every child deserves the right to a childhood, and the freedom to write their own story.

There are some childhoods that get interrupted too early.

Hospital rooms become part of everyday life.
Treatment schedules take over what used to feel normal.
And fear quietly settles into families already carrying more than they ever should.

That’s why this partnership between Bookwallah Organization and St. Jude India ChildCare Centres means so much to us.

Together, we’re creating spaces where children going through cancer treatment can reconnect with imagination, comfort, and moments that still feel like childhood.

Through Bookwallah’s innovative story experience, children and families at St. Jude India will have access to storybooks and Bookwallah storytelling sessions designed for emotional support during an incredibly difficult season of life.

Because children facing illness are carrying more than physical pain.

There’s fear.
Isolation.
Uncertainty.
Disrupted childhoods and emotional weight that often stays invisible to everyone else.

And sometimes, in the middle of treatment, what a child needs most is a story that lets them feel beautiful, hopeful and remind them that joy and imagination still belong to them too.

We believe healing is more than medical care.

We’re deeply grateful to the St. Jude India team for understanding how important it is to care for the inner life of a child alongside their physical treatment.

As Bookwallah continues expanding its work with children experiencing trauma, partnerships like this help us bring stories, comfort, and hope to children who need them most.

Because every child deserves more than survival.
Every child deserves the chance to laugh, dream, and live the life they choose.

If you would like to help us support this project, please consider donating to Bookwallah Organization (see profile) and message us so we can continue to share progress reports. Sessions are to begin JUNE.

Little hearts carry big feelings too. 💛

May is Mental Health Awareness Month - and at Bookwallah, every session we run, every story we share, and every library we walk into is rooted in one simple belief: that children deserve spaces where they feel heard, safe, and understood.

For children who have grown up facing trauma, loss, and hardship, the world can feel like a heavy place. That is why at Bookwallah, we don’t just build libraries — we build safe spaces. Spaces where a child can walk in carrying the weight of their past and walk out feeling just a little lighter, because a story reminded them that they are not alone. 📖

Through the power of storytelling, we work with children to help them develop empathy, build self-love, find comfort — by discovering that books can feel like home, no matter where you come from.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we bring to light something we witness every single day — children who have found a home in books. Children who arrived guarded and left with a favourite character. Children who didn’t have the words for what they felt, until a story gave them some.

💬 What’s a book or story that made you feel less alone? Drop it in the comments — we’d love to build a little list together.
