Thank you, Monica!

This summer, Monica brought thoughtful, creative work to the Marketing team as our Marketing & Insights Intern, building digital prospect funnels, working in HubSpot, and creating social content. Here's what she had to say about her time at Code Platoon:

➡️ How would you describe your experience working at Code Platoon?
"I had an amazing time. Everyone was supportive and made a genuine effort to include me, whether that was sitting in on marketing meetings or full staff syncs, without any pressure to have everything figured out. What stood out most was that they kept me informed on Code Platoon’s mission too, not just my tasks, which helped me really understand and connect with Code Platoon as a whole."

➡️ What projects did you work on during your internship, and which one are you most proud of? "My main project was a digital prospect funnel: landing pages, forms, and email sequences for future ads. It was extremely hands-on with a lot of HubSpot exploration and learning about two Veteran segments we plan on targeting. I'm most proud of this one because I learned the anatomy of Code Platoon's website and how to use what's already there to build something new. I also worked on social media post designs for blog content."

➡️ What was it like working with the team at Code Platoon?
"It was a really safe and open environment. I never felt like I had to perform; some weeks I'd contribute more, other weeks I'd mostly observe, and both were totally fine. The marketing team especially put a lot of thought into making sure my work was meaningful and that I was actually growing throughout the internship."

➡️ What's one thing you'll take away from this internship? "Learning how to think through a funnel was extremely useful. I'd never approached work as a lifecycle before. Everything was always results-driven, mapped to a specific goal or metric. This internship pushed me to think about the bigger system and how each piece builds into the next, which is something I'll definitely carry into whatever comes next."

Thank you for everything, Monica. We're grateful for everything you contributed this summer and excited to see what you do next!

Nobody knows exactly what a career in tech will look like ten years from now.
That’s kind of the point.

For the last decade, Code Platoon has evolved alongside the technology industry — adapting what we teach while staying focused on why we teach it: preparing Veterans and military family members for meaningful careers in tech.

Our new short film, One Mission, looks ahead.

Through the voices of Code Platoon’s board and staff, the film explores how AI is reshaping the skills employers need, what that means for people entering the industry, and how Code Platoon is evolving its curriculum to prepare students for what comes next.

The technology will change. The skills will evolve. The mission stays the same.

Ten years ago, Code Platoon started with nine students and a hunch: that Veterans and military family members deserved a better pathway into careers in technology.

Nearly 700 graduates later, that idea has become a decade-long mission.

Today, we’re proud to share Ten Years — a special short film telling the story of how Code Platoon grew from its earliest cohort into the community it is today.

Told through the voices of founder Rod Levy, board members, and graduates who lived it, this is a story about listening, adapting, and refusing to give up on the people who served.

A lot has changed in ten years. The mission hasn’t.

Ten Years. One Mission. And we’re just getting started.

Ten Years. One Mission. Countless Stories of What's Possible.

For Code Platoon alum Alex Arias, finding the right coding bootcamp was about more than learning to code. It was about finding a community that wanted him to succeed.

From scholarship support and dedicated instructors to classmates who helped each other through 15 intense weeks, Alex found a place where his military experience was understood and his next chapter could take shape.

That journey led to an internship at DRW, one of Code Platoon's longtime corporate partners and our 2026 Partner of the Decade.

Hear Alex share how Code Platoon helped him build the skills, confidence, and connections to launch his career in tech.

Ten years ago, DRW took a chance on Code Platoon.

In 2016, they signed on as a sponsor of our very first cohort—before we had a track record, hundreds of graduates, or any idea what the next decade would bring.

They’ve been with us ever since.

Over the last ten years, DRW has hosted 31 apprentices from Code Platoon, and extended 25 full-time offers to our graduates.

That’s why, as we celebrate Code Platoon’s tenth anniversary, we’re proud to recognize DRW as our Corporate Partner of the Decade.

Our latest blog tells the story of that partnership through two Code Platoon alumni who built careers at DRW: Alex Arias and Stephanie Bounyavong.

Their stories show what can happen when employers don’t just support the mission—they create real opportunities for our graduates to build what comes next.

Thank you, DRW, for believing in the mission from the beginning—and for continuing to invest in our graduates ten years later.
