We prayed this blessing over our returning students, teachers, and school staff yesterday. This morning I’m praying it for our city as CPS returns today!

God of new beginnings, we give you thanks for children heading back to school, for college students beginning another year, for teachers and school staff preparing to welcome their students, and for all who learn, teach, encourage, and grow.
For children entering new classrooms, meeting new teachers, making new friends, and discovering new things. Give them curiosity, courage, and joy. Keep them safe, and help them know they are loved.
For college students beginning a new chapter, whether far from home or close by, for all the excitement, uncertainty, and possibility ahead,
Give them wisdom, courage, and good companions. Remind them that they are never alone.
For teachers and school staff who prepare, teach, encourage, listen, and care for their students day after day, Give them patience, creativity, strength, and rest. Remind them that their work matters.
God of wisdom, bless these students and teachers. Bless their classrooms, campuses, hallways, libraries, playgrounds, offices, and homes.
Go with them into this new year, O God. And may your wisdom guide them, your love surround them, and your peace hold them, amen.
