Celebrating the very first Bloomsday Celebration at the Irish American Heritage Center.

Bloomsday celebrates the life and work of Irish author James Joyce, especially his novel Ulysses, which is set entirely on a single day: June 16, 1904.

Side note: that’s when he had his first “date” with his wife.

What a wonderful morning at our June Mass & Full Irish Breakfast! ☘️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for another fantastic gathering filled with community, tradition, and great food. We were thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout and to welcome special guest Paula Svadlena from Aer Lingus for the drawing of our Summer Raffle.

Congratulations to Bridget Gallagher, our lucky winner of two round-trip tickets to Ireland! Even more fitting, Bridget originally hails from Ireland herself. We hope she enjoys a fantastic trip home.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Paula and Aer Lingus, one of the Irish American Heritage Center’s longtime partners. Through their generosity and support, these Ireland ticket raffles help raise funds that directly support the IAHC’s mission and nonprofit cultural programming. This partnership has benefited our community for years, and we are honored to continue working together. We’re already looking forward to our next raffle, which we’ll be announcing later this year, so stay tuned!

Looking ahead, we hope you’ll join us for our next Mass & Full Irish Breakfast on Sunday, July 19. We are excited to welcome special guests from the Driehaus Museum, another outstanding Chicago nonprofit organization with whom we have recently begun a new partnership. The Driehaus Museum is known for hosting and curating exceptional Irish and Irish American exhibitions, including their current exhibition, Ink & Outrage.

We’ll be sharing more details about this exciting partnership and upcoming programming soon. Stay tuned—and thank you for helping make the Irish American Heritage Center such a vibrant and welcoming community.

⚾ BASEBALL, FIREWORKS, IRISH PRIDE & A GREAT CAUSE! ☘️

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 22 and join us for a special Chicago Dogs x Irish American Heritage Center Partnership Night!

Get ready for a full day of craic as the Chicago Dogs dedicate the evening to the IAHC during their St. Pat’s Day & Fireworks Celebration presented by Republic Bank of Chicago. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Chicago Dogs St. Patrick’s Day hat, and the night will conclude with a spectacular post-game fireworks show! 🎆

The fun starts at the Irish American Heritage Center with a pregame gathering at the Fifth Province Pub before guests board a bus to the ballpark together. During the game, representatives from the IAHC will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and fans can participate in a 50/50 raffle, with half of the proceeds benefiting the nonprofit cultural and community programs of the Irish American Heritage Center.

After the game and fireworks, we’ll head back to the IAHC for a post-game celebration at the Fifth Province Pub!

For years, the Nimble Thimbles quilting group at the Irish American Heritage Center has brought together creativity, craftsmanship, friendship, and tradition under one roof. Their handmade quilts are more than beautiful works of art — they’re part of the living history of the IAHC and a reflection of the dedication of volunteers who help support the Center as a nonprofit organization.

From stitching quilts for raffles and fundraisers to creating a welcoming community space for makers and artists, the Nimble Thimbles have quietly helped keep traditions alive while giving back to the Center they love. 💚

Now, they’re hoping to grow their circle and pass these incredible skills on to younger generations interested in quilting, sewing, fiber arts, or simply finding community through creativity. Whether you’re experienced or just curious to learn, they’d love to welcome new faces to the group!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at the Irish American Heritage Center to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend 💐☘️

It was such a beautiful day filled with community, laughter, live music, delicious food, and so much love for the incredible mothers and special women in our lives. From Mass in the Mayfair Theatre to brunch shared among family and friends, we were so grateful to celebrate alongside all of you.

A huge thank you as well to our staff, volunteers, musicians, and everyone who helped make the day run so smoothly—we couldn’t do it without you.

We hope everyone left with full hearts (and full plates 😌). Thank you for making this Mother’s Day at the IAHC so special. 💛
