315,167 people were injured due to distracted driving in 2024 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

AAAM is advancing groundbreaking research in road safety, trauma, and vehicle safety to save lives and prevent injuries on the road.

“AAAM’s stewardship of the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) has had a profound impact on trauma research, injury surveillance, and vehicle safety," says Thomas Hartka, MD, MS, MSDS, Emergency Medicine Physician and Data Scientist, School of Medicine at the University of Virginia.
