July 1, 2026 was our inaugural "Pride In Capital" event at The Hatchery Chicago where our panel discussed community development financing opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. Panelists included moderator, Rob Rose, Managing Director, Rose Capital Group LLC; Taylor Mason, Founder and CEO, Taylor's Tacos; James Norris, Director of Lending Operations, Chicago Community Loan Fund; and Brad McConnell, CEO, Allies for Community Business.

PNC's sponsorship allowed for networking and conversations that gave attendees insights into CDFIs and what it takes to bring projects from ideation to ex*****on.

We explained how we walk with our customers the entire way, pairing meticulous but flexible underwriting with robust technical assistance to keep our customers on track.

This is our third time gathering folks from the LGBTQ+ community like this, and each time the conversation has grown. We started out in 2023, recognizing a blind spot during our strategic planning process, that in our mission to “help create communities where people thrive”, we had not done enough to direct speak to the needs of LGBTQ+ people.

Those conversations led us to revisit our efforts in 2024, and those discussions helped us realize that we needed to bring our small business lending partners into this because there was a direct request to have them at the table.

In the future, we will continue to have conversations and invest in people, places, projects, and ideas that need it most and promote our mission.

Thursday, June 25 was the annual recognition of the great work organizations and individuals are doing in the community development space.

LISC Chicago's 32nd Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards (CNDA) at Radius was an amazing event with a dynamic panel of industry leaders kicking off the evening with a discussion on closing the gap between community and capital and how Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) scale economic impact through strategic partnerships and drive growth locally.

After an introduction from Meghan Harte, LISC Chicago's Executive Director, moderating the conversation was Phylicia Manley of JPMorganChase. Panelists included Terrence Johnson (Greenwood Archer Capital), Raul Raymundo (The Resurrection Project), Bob Tucker (Chicago Community Loan Fund), and Stacie Young (Community Investment Corporation).

Once the thought-provoking discussion ended, the attendees were ushered into the main hall for the awards presentation where CCLF's past president, Calvin Holmes, received the Richard M. Daley Friend of the Neighborhood Award for his three decades of dedication to community development.

Several CCLF borrowers were also honored, Greater SouthwestDevelopment Corporation, National Public Housing Museum, Here to Stay Community Land Trust, and Aspire Center for Workforce Innovation.

Thursday evening, members of the CCLF team, Bob Tucker, DeMario J Greeneand Moleska Smith, attended the Woodstock Institute Economic Justice Awards at the University Club of Chicago. The honorees were Dr. Helene Gayle, former President & CEO of The Chicago Community Trust receiving the Economic Justice Award and Fred Campobasso, Chief Lending Officer, Great Lakes Credit Union receiving the Advocate of the Year Award with keynote speaker Brent Adams , Senior Vice President of Policy & Advocacy, Woodstock Institute.
