Our HHCD Community Sustainability Awards kicks off soon, and it's the last call for tickets!

This year's program - October 14 at 6:30P in the private Skyline Suites of Chicago’s historic Soldier Field Stadium! - includes:

This past Thursday, we were joined by friends - including Chicago Mayor's Office, Alderman Walter Red Burnett, Chicago Housing Authority, Illinois Housing Development Authority, JPMorganChase, Chicago Department of Housing - to celebrate the Grand Opening of 520 Hobbie at Parkside alongside CoDevelopers Holsten Real Estate Development Corporation and Cabrini Green LAC Community Development Corporation.

Holsten Human Capital Development NFP's very own Jackie Taylor Holsten noted, "Show that you want to see this community thrive, and that you want to say, 'I was a part of it,' and really be a part of it. I'm Jackie Holsten, and I'm part of the Team, and I can't do it without you."

Our very own Jackie Taylor Holsten, Executive Director of Holsten Human Capital Development NFP, seen here with Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, at the “Grand Opening” of 520 Hobbie at Parkside.

This beautiful development represents the final phase of the Parkside of Old Town development and brings 99 new apartment homes to the community, including housing for returning CHA residents, affordable units, and market rate homes.

One of the most powerful moments of the day came during Jackie’s remarks. After celebrating the incredible work and partnerships that brought this vision to life, Jackie made her focus very clear: “My thing is about the people.”

That truly says it all. For Jackie, the buildings matter, but the people who will call them home matter most. How do we serve them? How do we make sure they’re okay? How do we create opportunities for people and families to live their very best lives?

That is what community development is all about. ❤️
