We are heartbroken to learn that former NAUDL fellow, 2020 Urban Debate National Championship qualifier and Nashville Debate alum Kurt Schelzig passed away unexpectedly at 23.

Kurt's personality popped off the screen from his very first interview. He had an understanding of the impact of debate beyond his years. He channeled that passion, along with intellectual curiosity and quick grasp of concepts, into a unique capstone project analyzing tournament attendance data from across the network.

His insights on tournament calendaring are one of the most shared resources in calls in our data conversations with the whole network to this day.

Please join us in sending condolences to Kurt's family and the entire Nashville debate community.
