NON:op NON:op Arts and Humanities is a Chicago non-profit that creates experimental art experiences by and for all Chicagoans.

NON:op engages diverse Chicago communities with participatory projects where people use the arts to create a more just society. NON:op Open Opera Works engages diverse audiences, artists, and program partners around urgent social issues of our time through projects, events, and performances that are immersive, interactive, and participatory. Our large-scale works are supported by salons, panel dis

cussions, workshops, and installations. We seek to release that which is both archetypal and unique in each spectator, to encourage meaningful conversation, and to bring forward new ideas and innovative ways of being.

Seeking individuals of any age and ability to read the titles of banned books for the Inventory of Lost Books installation.

Did you know that nearly 4,000 books were banned in school districts throughout the United States in 2024 and 2025? And that marginalized voices are suppressed by banning books that reflect diverse experiences? Would you like to help raise awareness about book banning and motivate others to take action?

Conceived and created by Ohio-based book artist, Amanda Love, and NON:op sound artist, Christophe Preissing, Inventory of Lost Books is a series of four installations connected via a historical narrative about book suppression and a possible future.

Contact [email protected] for more information, to schedule a reading/recording time, and to find out how you may assist with the project.
