Jared is a high-performing people leader who closely partners with scientists and technology stakeholders to deliver impactful technical solutions. Jared serves as a professional mentor to multiple colleagues, students, and Toastmasters members. He serves as the Vice President of Education for the Abbott/AbbVie Toastmasters Club, is the founder and leader of a cutting-edge AI/ML think tank with AbbVie, and has guided multiple colleagues and students to attain professional growth and/or become full-time employees at AbbVie.

Jared has worked in healthcare or Pharmaceutical industry for the past 15+ years and has been with AbbVie for the last 9 years, currently Business Technology Solutions consultant for AbbVie's chemical manufacturing and control development sciences organization and previously as a Lab Manager for AbbVie's primary Global Compound and Logistics lab. Jared has been responsible for supporting major efforts of Drug Discovery and DevSci across a wide array of projects. During this time, Jared has successfully built, coached, and led a team in the Lake County GCLO and has been critical in managing the flow of small molecule research material between AbbVie’s internal and external partners. Jared has developed trust with the key members in the areas he supported by initiating process improvements, coordinating projects to optimize research material capacity, and enabling new capabilities within the areas he partners with.

Jared is from Tampa, Florida but mostly grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, has a MS in Biomedical Science, and is Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified. Outside work he enjoys trying to trick his 4-year-old daughter Poppy into liking one of his many hobbies and preventing his 2-year-old son Ender from being consumed by the Dark Side of The Force.

Please join us on March 1 as we honor Jim Pollpeter as one of this year's Outstanding Eagle Scout Award recipients.

Jim Pollpeter earned his Eagle Scout with Troop 61 in Lockport, IL in 1987 (Rainbow Council). Prior to moving to Lockport, Jim was a member of Troop 29 in Normal, IL (W.D. Boyce Council).

He helped the BSA kick off the Presidential Good Turn in 1986 for Organ Donor Awareness in Washington, D.C. with the Secretary of Health and Human Services. His Eagle Project was an Organ Donor Awareness project to educate the public and get over 50 to sign a donor card. 35 years ago, he had a Liver & Kidney Transplant due to a rare genetic chronic liver deficiency he was born with that caused cirrhosis of the liver.

He and his wife have twin daughters (Abby & Isabel) who both earned their Eagle Scout award in 2023 with Troop 209 in Palatine, IL. Now they are Freshman student at Purdue studying Engineering.

Currently, Jim is a License Customs Broker working for a local importer/exporter. He works to keep on top of the tariffs, duties and logistics of shipments to make sure they are imported according to U.S. Customs regulations in a timely manner.

Charles Norwesh is a co-founder and Principal of Norcon, Inc., a mid-sized construction firm located in downtown Chicago. He started the business in 1999 with his business partner Jeff Jozwiak, and together they have grown the company to a staff of approximately 75 people and complete about $125 million of construction work each year. Norcon’s projects include offices, schools, churches, museums, hotels, health and wellness, laboratories, agricultural, pharmaceutical, multi-family residential, religious, retail and high-end residential; these projects can be new construction, building additions, renovations or tenant improvements. Charles believes that the outstanding service provided to their clients sets Norcon apart from its competition.

Charles has been married for 27 years to Kim, and they have two boys ages 26 and 25. Charles loves to spend time with his family, ski, travel and volunteer. Charles is a member of the AGC, ECC and YPO Gold.

Charles is an Eagle Scout, a Silver Beaver recipient, and was an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 50 in Deerfield. He has been a committee member of the Construction Industry Dinner supporting the Pathway to Adventure Council for the past 20 years and has Chaired the Dinner event twice. He is a past Executive Board Member of the Chicago Area Council and was the VP of Program.

The NOESA recognizes those Eagle Scouts who have inspired others through their actions and have devoted a lifetime to their profession, avocation, community, and beliefs at great sacrifice to themselves and their families. The award recognizes notable Eagle Scouts who have either performed distinguished service at the local, state, or regional level or who were known nationally for their professional and scouting achievements.

Nominations are due by 11:59 PM on November 25, 2024. The award will be presented as part of the Youth Recognition Dinner.

The award recognizes an individual who reminds Scouting alumni to maintain a lifetime relationship with Scouting, who enable Scouting to remain healthy for future generations. In addition, potential recipients of the award may be nominated based on the three following categories:

• Career and/or avocation, such as achieving high honor or distinction in their chosen profession.
• Community service, including contributions to Scouting or other community efforts or organizations.
• Scouting promotion, contributing significantly to the promotion, and/or advancement of the BSA alumni program and activities at a council level over a sustained period of time through word and/or deed.

Alpha Phi Omega Eagles, an alumni group of Alpha Phi Omega comprised of Eagle Scouts and supporters of the Boy Scouts of America, is now accepting applications for their Leaders in Service Scholarship.

Any Eagle Scout applying for or attending college is eligible for a $2,000 scholarship.

The deadline is April 30, 2024, with the winner being announced in June of 2024.
