🌙🔭 A Starry Night returns to Skinner Park tomorrow!

Chicago Astronomer Astro Joe Guzman will bring his powerful telescopes to Skinner Park Thursday night from 7:30–10:30 PM — and this one comes with a bonus: a partial lunar eclipse.

The eclipse begins developing at 8:23 PM, with the partial phase becoming visible later in the evening. Come take a look through the telescopes and enjoy a summer night under the stars with your neighbors.

Thanks to the Mary Bartelme Park Advisory Council for bringing Astro Joe back to Skinner!

Your voice. Your parks. 🌳

There’s still time to weigh in on how future funding is invested in Chicago’s parks.

The Chicago Park District’s Citywide Participatory Budgeting initiative gives community members the opportunity to rank the types of park improvements they believe should be prioritized — with the top-voted category receiving funding for improvements across the city.

Voting closes Thursday, August 27. Community members ages 13+ can vote online or by paper ballot at Chicago Park District fieldhouses.

Friday March 20, 2026: The Park District has notified us that there is a planned power outage today Fri, Mar 20, 2026 starting at 8am. It's unclear how long the power will be out. The fieldhouse and bathrooms will be closed while the power is out.

Please help bring Clifford home for the holidays. Please keep an eye out if you are in Skinner Park or the neighborhood and share this post widely. Clifford has been lost since Nov 15 near the West Loop Target and has been spotted near Mary Barthelme Park.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Skinner Park Advisory Council. We are grateful to all our volunteers, sponsors and partners who make our work possible.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to our food drive and to all the volunteers who helped with the food drive and food giveaway. Through the community's collective efforts, we were able to serve over 300 guests. In total, we distributed over 6,000+ cans of food and other non-perishable items, 1,500+ lbs of fresh vegetables and fruits.
